Vital Remains' "Icons of Evil"
5/10
Disappointing. The drumming is extremely repetitive (and oftentimes horrifically out of place), the riffing is bland, songwriting is meh... completely mediocre album.
Kreator - Under the Guillotine
8/10
"Pleasure To Kill" is slightly overrated as an album, but when it's on, it's really on; this is one of the on moments.
I'm hearing lots of good things about FFXII; I haven't yet played it myself, but I've heard it's very action-oriented, and as a storyline that is distinct from previous FFs.
FFIX is an amalgam of pretty much every previous FF game up to that point; you'll recognize a lot of characters and features, etc as parts of previous games. Solid game overall, too, so I'd recommend that one. If you're into emulation, explore FFV and FFVI.
I left the names the same; I haven't changed character names in several years. Unless, of course, you have to put character names in at the beginning of the game (earlier FFs, for example).
I don't care for those types of Christian bands; I do, however, enjoy a number of Christian metal bands:
Antestor
Extol
Believer
Deliverance
Tourniquet
Bands like them.
DragonForce's previous form, Demoniac (four members of Demoniac went on to form DragonHeart), was formed in 1993. While it was black metal for 1994's "Prepare For War," elements of what we now know as DragonForce surfaced on 1996's "Stormblade," and 1999's "The Fire and the Wind" brought a sound...
I'm almost at the point of hating the band; I liked the first album to a degree, but then the band decided to release the same album twice over. I prefer my power metal to be more riff based, or progressive.
Legion of the Damned's "Sons of the Jackal"
Quality, aggressive black/thrash, much as the band has produced for 15+ years (under the name of Occult until 2005). I'd give it a solid 9/10.
Nevermore - Narcosynthesis
Hypnotize me, mesmerize me
Drain the color from my eyes
Patronize me, energize me
Change the world, internalize
How did it come to this, narcosynthesis
How did it come to this, narcosynthesis
Alienate me, learn to hate me
Crucify your ideals, the flesh is the...
Malas - Impaling Sickness
7/10 Definitely an older vibe; recorded in 2005, sounds like it was made in 1985 or so (minus the vocals). A bit slower than I was hoping (as is the album overall), but it's not bad.
Can't remember the name of the tour, but it was the Destruction/Vader tour from last summer; got to meet and talk with the members from both bands (as well as Speed Kill Hate and Overkill's Dave Linsk). Both Destruction and Vader were killer. Cryptopsy/Suffocation (missed Despised Icon and...
I wouldn't say that I love the game, but I do enjoy playing it. One of the better games for SNES, if you ask me. I got a number of the alternative endings, but I don't think the majority of them were really worth another playthrough.
I do a decent Vader ripoff (working on Martyr), and I'm semi-proficient at Load-Garage, Inc. era Hetfield and Warrel Dane vocals, but I'm not good enough with the last two to want to join a band as a vocalist. My favorite vocalists are Warrel Dane (Nevermore), Tom Englund (Evergrey - his...
