While I do think Final Fantasy is declining in its influence and appeal, I don't think that's coherent with saying that the game quality has declined. I think the 'downfall' can more accurately be attributed to the rise of Western RPGs, MMOs and the fact that there have only been 2 'real' FF...
It can feel a little bit dull when you start off, but as you get further it becomes more enjoyable. As your beak level becomes higher and you get better and more frequent rewards, it becomes less of a chore, and more of a fun game in its own right.
I usually have something playing either on the computer or from iPod dock, and I listen to as much video game music as anything else. A lot of it does simply consist of FF music, though I do also listen to a range of things from epic sounding Zelda/Elder Scrolls stuff, to cheesy Sonic tunes or...
I can think of a few series that I'd like to see make a comeback. For one, the F-Zero series, which has been dormant for the best part of the last decade, though it's hard to imagine why, the series didn't really ever have a single bad release, and like most Nintendo franchises it could be sold...
Died over 50 times now in the last few hours in Portal 2 co-op because an ignoramus who calls himself my friend keeps 'accidentally' removing those light-bridge-things when I'm standing on them. Considering we also managed to get stuck on the level select room because we were trying to portal...
I think that when you first meet Eiko she can be the more useful summoner, especially with Phoenix, but by disc 4 I reckon Garnet is the better choice once you get Ark, not only for the crazy damage you can do, but also because you can use auto-regen to heal your entire party completely during...
Only FFIX stands above all others for me, others are unordered:
1) Final Fantasy IX: My introduction to 'proper' RPGs. Any of the supposed weaknesses in the story are more than compensated for by the amazing cast of characters, so much so that I would love it as a book or a film, not just as a...
Love all these series, but I'm in a Metroid mood after re-beating the first Prime game this morning so I'll vote for that. I'm still missing a few games from all these series though, specifically Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Other M, and the two DS Zeldas. Mario probably has the best level design...
But wasn't Xianghua meant to die or 'disappear' at the end of IV? So how does a 15 year old daughter appear in a game that is 17 years later? :hmmm: Goddammit Namco, why is continuity so confusing in this series. I suppose Kilik would be the most obvious father, though it would be kind of weird...
This looks pretty interesting, might consider grabbing this in the future, price will probably drop quick since it isn't a 3DS title. I read some reviews, but I can't find anything about the controls, which isn't suprising for RPGs, but the touch screen on my DS is messed up, so if it has...
1) Ark - Apart from having the coolest/most-over-the-top animation I've seen from any summon in the series, Ark is the only really good summon in FFIX, and the only one I use for disc 4 stuff. As long as you have a good number of Lapis Lazulis in your inventory to boost spellpower, Ark hits...
I've heard stuff about people killing bosses before their scripts can finish correctly in the past, though never with Gilgamesh #4 before. Whilst I can't say for sure, I seriously doubt it has any effect on what happens later on in the game since you aren't 'supposed' to kill Gilgamesh then...
Bahamut is essentially impossible to lose to assuming you have 1 member capable of casting reflect (Rosa learns it at level 34). Just keep reflect up, and he will eventually kill himself (unless you're playing on the DS version). Otherwise, it's the Behemoths you really have to worry about, and...
