Well, we'll go from newest to oldest I guess. O_O
I know I'm not perfect, but the only way to get better, is to try. :ohshit:
I use GIMP... and almost ALL of them have black borders, so they may be hard to see. Feel free to be as honest as possible. I like honesty.
And also, if you don't like suggestive things, those will always be below the normal ones

All of these are safe, no Yuri/Yaoi or blood

I really like these 2.

The first one I mainly like because of the lighting used, and the colour of the lighting to match the hair colours, I like the swirls but I think they could have been blended in a bit better, they stick out a bit too much.

This second one hasn't got much going on, it's cropped in an interesting way, and it looks like you used a gradient flare around her hands, which actually kinda works, the thing that intrigued me the most was the text used, it's unusual but I like it!

I like the concept of this one, the lighting is made to look just like pyreflies, which is awesome, however it's kind of drowned out the background that you've put on there, and Rikku could be blended in a little better, she looks a little slapped on there.

So yeah you've already got a pretty good idea on concepts regarding GFX tags, what I'd recommend is looking up some GIMP tutorials to give you some ideas on lighting and effects and what not, as they are of great help.

Great start overall though, good job! :)

I think I'll just comment on the pieces I like the least.

I think this one either needs:

1). More depth.

or

2). Less light.

I don't like the blur on this one. If the reason for the blur is a bad photograph, I'd say I think you need to use some filters.

If on the other hand the reason for the blur is because you used a bunch of filters and the blur was manually added, I'd say try using less.
