...got a new focus after becoming ceith.

When Vanille asks how the party turns back from Ceith monsters, Lightning says it may have been another illusion played by the Falcie, presumably to sink Fang deeper into despair and become Ragnarok. However, that doesn't explain why they got a new happy happy joy joy focus and new l'cie brands.

They describe themselves as being in a dreamlike state when they were Ceiths and got a vision of the future full of ecstasy and happiness. Sounds kinda heaven-like. So, I believe the Maker saved them and gave them their new Focus to save the world.

But get this, their brands after receiving the new focus is identical to Fang's brand. This would mean that Fang's not a defective l'cie but rather, her focus, given by the Maker, was to save cocoon all along, not destroy it. This also explains why she lost her memory of her past focus to destroy cocoon.

So voila, they save cocoon, turn to crystal, and somehow magically decrystallize through Vanille's super crystal powers? That part I still don't quite get.

Edit: Thanks for editing the title mods =]

...I really like this theory. Well thought out, very possible.

I don't get the Crystal thing though.. it makes sense they turn to crystal through completing their focus... but I can't explain how they come out of this state, and hoe Fang and Vanille come into that.

I always thought that it was an illusion, and that their focus was only to kill Orphan, not to destroy Cocoon.

However, that wouldn't explain the brands, so this makes sense.

Thanks guys.

Perhaps they came out of crystal stasis because it was only Fang and Vanille who completed the focus to become ragnarok and save the world. When cocoon was crystallized, their focus was complete so they all turned to crystal. But then Fang and Vanille did all the saving and so they were "gifted" with eternal life.

I don't like this explanation but it's the best I can do lol. It doesn't explain how Serah and Dajh come out of stasis.

Oh, and if this is true, then it leads to another question of why Vanille was crystallized the first time when only Fang became ragnarok

I don't think it matters who completes the focus, as long as it is completed. Or else the story behind Cie'th stone missions wouldn't even make sense.

The cei'th stones are formed from cie'ths who never finished their focus. They turned to crystal only after they ran out of energy as cei'th monsters.

I thought that the whole point of doing these things was that it would transform the people into crystals rather than have them become cie'th forever. If not, then what is the point?
