Alrighty, so I was playin' my Final Fantasy XII after a pretty long hiatus and am at like the very end of the story. But before finishing, I decided, I wanted to complete all the hunts! Alrighty! So, it was workin' out pretty sweet until....this guy. According to >>this site<<,

It can be found in the Unknown area of Subterra in the Pharos at Ridorana after placing all the black orbs in the Penumbra, Umbra and Abyssal areas.

ALL the black orbs??? First of all, that area is very difficult to trudge through; let alone to defeat enemies in. Second of all, each black orb thingy needs like 3/4 black orbs before it even turns on or whatever. Third, after defeating an enemy, it's rare that you even earn a black orb in the first place! Fourth, aren't there like a billion of those black orb thingies on TOP of them needing like 3/4 for them to turn on or whatever? Wouldn't this hunt take like YEARS to complete? I mean, it seems like you need like 100s of black orbs! Is there any way I can make this go faster? I believe all my guys are at level 75+ somethin'-or-other...? Please? Thanks! :)

It does take a long time and it does take hundreds of black orbs. My friend did this recently and I've done it in the past. You need to find supermassive black orbs. You got a chance of winning 1-99 orbs with those. In the meanwhile just fight and collect orbs until you start lighting up the rooms enough for you to see in them. Beware of magic pots.

That's not how they work. When you get a black orb from killing a creature, if you don't collect it, it will fly to the supermassive black orb. Each orb that does this counts as three orbs when you collect it from the SMBO. There's one on each level, and the regular black orbs will fly in the direction of the SMBO, assuming you don't loot them.

One of them needs 72, if i remember right. :wacky:

If you're talking about the ones in the regular areas of the Pharos, you don't have to worry about those. Only the ones in the Subterra.

Is there any way I can make this go faster?

Dunno if it's any faster, but I believe you can farm black orbs in the regular parts of the Pharos, and then take them down into the Subterra. The drawback there being no SMBO, of course.

Here's some advice: When you see a Magic Pot, hit the Flee button ASAP. Then let go, and IMMEDIATELY use an Elixir on the thing. It gets so happy that it drops its shield and then you can beat the living shit out of it. When battling the Shadowseer, bring out a weapon with the Light element- they seem to do more. Cast Berserk, Bravery, and Haste on all but one of your party members so that you can inflict maximum damage before it brings up its Paling and Magick Shield combo. You will then have to face each of the Pharos bosses in order- enjoy. Hope I helped!

Phew! All right, guys. Thanks for the replies. Looks like it's going to be just as hard as I thought! Ha ha. But I never heard of the Super Massive Black Orb! I think that'll help too. But see, the problem is that I haven't even unlocked the Subterra yet. I was asking if doing so would take hundreds of black orbs considering I still need to get black orbs in the Penumbra area to unlock the Abyssal area. Correct? Not sure if I'm really up to this, but this advice'll help if/when I am! Thanks again!:neomon:

Ok there are 3 levels, and each one has 4 pedestals, each one requires a diffrent amount of Black orbs. If you go over the requested amount the counter resets, there is no way to find out how many orbs you need to use. So i will provide you with the answer.

First here is a map of the 3 areas.

There is one pedestal in each of the four corners, and the blue dots show where you can find the massive black orbs. I never had a problem getting them. Remember place the EXACT number of orbs in the pedestals.

Using the Niho-Remedy strategy should help out a lot when you face off against the Animas. Just equip a Nihopaloa and use a Remedy on the foe; this will inflict all possible ailments on the foe.
