FFVIII Re-Release?

i was on Japanese PSN this morning and so far FFI. FFII, FFVII, FFVIII and FFT are all for sale there however FFI has been on the japanese PSN for a few months now if i remember correctly however i think an FFVIII release worldwide will happen the only reason i can think of for them not putting I+II on worldwide PSN is due them releasing UMD versions of them not so long ago
 
Well to me that is good news i will final get to play FFVIII again when they release it in the UK

Edit: Just hope i have the money to buy it.

Oh, that's bad. Well, like you said, at least you'll get to play it again when it comes out over there on PSN.
 
I really REALLY hope this gets released in the UK soon
I just finished my 99 hour play of FF7 about 5 minutes ago so now I need something else to spend my gaming time on and this would be perfect, a full play through of VII followed closely by a full(ish) playthrough of VIII would be great


And it's the new PS3 slim that doesn't play PSX disks, so they should hopefully (for me anyway) be releasing PSX games for the PSN store soon to cater for people who are buying the new PS3's rather than just people who got them originally

Of course, if I buy one now, I'm doubly as screwed aren't I, as I don't have
broadband but dialup.

I wish that they would like rerelease the PS version for the PSP, then I might buy another one, becasue my other is broke. Or have they already? I don't know

They're going to rerelease Final Fantasy VIII on the PSN store which you'll be able to download onto the PS3 or PSP (or transfer from the PS3 to the PSP) but if you mean a disk then I doubt they'll make one specifically for the PSP =/

You have a source for that? Because I'm not terribly optimistic.

It's pretty widely known that the Japanese PSN is a godsend compared to the PSN in America. I can't comment on EU. Granted, the PSN has gotten better with their releases. It seems to take them quite a long time to release anything on there though. They used to have nothing, but there's some solid classics like all the Crash Bandicoot's and the original Spyro. As for RPG's, it's literally laughable. You have the original Wild Arms, the original Suikoden and fairly recently FFVII. It sucks frankly, and since the PS3 was released, the PSN's 'classics' downloads have always been few and far between. I did see that they put out Wild Arms 2, which is nice at least.

Anyway, just because it was released in Japan doesn't necessarily mean much, because it hasn't meant much of anything in the past. I have a Gigantor 60GB original PS3, plays most of my PSX/2 games well. Except Digital Devil Saga, Tales of the Abyss, and FFVIII, so I keep my PS2 around to play them. Except Xenogears because of its infamous glitch, so I'm thankful for the PS3 for that at least. But, since the new PS3 slim and apparently this new PSP have been released, maybe the PSN will offer more, which would be great. But I'll believe it when I see it.

Pardon if I seem pessimistic, I used to love Sony, but I've gotten slapped in the face far too many times since the PS3. I buy it for $500, it can't even manage backward compatibility, then they release a new, 'better' one for a fraction of the price. I buy the system based on my experiences with the PS2, as the RPG machine that it was. I assume that the RPG's will come but...they really never have. Valkyria Chronicles, Oblivion...yeah, that's it. At least Eternal Sonata got a port. I doubt Tales of Vesperia will though. I loathed the Xbox/Microsoft, but I love my RPG's more so I bought a 360 specifically for that. I already have more games on that than I do for the PS3.

But the PS3 might be getting slightly better, like with White Knight Chronicles and (eventually) FFXIII. But not even that is exclusive anymore. I'll buy it for the PS3 anyway, since I don't want to have totally wasted my hard earned money. But anyway. I just bought a USB cord to connect my PS3/PSP, having trouble getting it to work but I'm determined. Playing some PSX FF's on the go sounds amazing. I'd personally be more excited about FFVIII than I was about VII. I'll admit though, when I heard it was suddenly released on the PSN here, I was shocked. So who knows, but me being shocked does show how little I rely that something like that would happen very soon.
 
I so got my hopes up when I seen this. But as Exire has said, Im not going to be optimisic about this. Im a huge FFVIII fan, so if there was any chance of a remake I would jump up and get hold of a copy no matter what the odds. But nah, this just doesnt seem 100% genuine.
 
I don't remember the source, but there was a comment in a magazine recently that said ff8 for psn would be released in EU soonish. I've been watching all over the web for info on it, and everyone seems to think it's going to happen. I can't imagine them releasing it in EU and not the US, since EU usually gets the last release for stuff like that. If you google ff8 on psn you'll probly find mention of the article in there somewhere.
 
Ok so sony is killing me here D= I've been wanting to play ff8 again sooooo bad, but I keep telling myself that I should wait for the psn release so I can play it handheld. >< Anyway I was doing my usual google search for info on it and came across some new stuff.

So, after months of waiting it's finally here on psn! Was actually pretty awesome, on xmas day I got a 16 gb memory stick, and a 20$ psn card. Then I go to check my e-mail and what should I find but ff8 has been released on psn ^o^. Must be fate :)
