Hey everyone. I was wondering what you all thought of the new DSI color wise. I'm not sure what to make out of the blue and black opening colors in America:

The black seems overly boring and the blue is pretty color wise but I feel that it's too overbearing. x_x

And the Japanese colors are just..icky. The yellow one looks like snot, the blue one is eh..and the pink one is..well..pink. o_o

I kind of want to wait till new colors come out because I don't want to carry an ugly black DSI or a really really bright blue around (prolly wouldn't look so bad if it wasn't matte). D: But I really want a DSI soooo...I'm conflicted. =/

They look kinda tacky to me. Way too plastic looking, seems like they're still trying to copy what Mac did several years ago with having a ton of different colors. Then again, they are trying to market these to children...the camera crap is ridiculous, like you can take pictures and then they give you silly little tools to like, put stars around your picture or stick mustaches on your picture, stupid crap like that that middle schoolers will like. So that's probably why they look dumb.

You know what I miss? When they'd give their gameboys translucent colors, like my GBC was a translucent purple. That was cool <.<

No tacky looking camera on that baby, either.

I'm pretty sure you can get white ones over here, at least I think it's a white one the girl has in the advert...

Yeah, uk advert

So if we have white here chances are you'll get it over there soon enough. I don't think the coloured ones look that good, they're really plasticy looking, like the pink PSP when it came out.. :ffs:

That is probably why I dislike it so much, the matte finish looks really cheap, like plastic. x_x

Oh and Steve, the GB Colors came in MANY different colors. XD So it's not something new they decided to do here.

The whole DSi thing to me is pointless, I know it's the whole marketing thing but it's like meh, I can understand making the DSLite as it got rid of the chunky original DS but the DSi seems to be a DSLite with a camera, the camera seems pointless imo >.>
Don't mind the colours though 8D

Those were good times. I remember being younger and thinking about how cool it was that I could see the inner working of my game system. :awesome:

I think the colors are pretty silly, honestly. I'm not really a huge fan of the DSi to begin with...and these colors just...eh. I'm a fan of the simple white that the DS Lite had to offer.

I love the neon pink one, that is super cute. I have the baby pink DS with a Wall.E sticker over it rofl.

Oh I know, most of the Gameboy Colors had disgusting colors, they looked super plastic...I didn't really like them. I wanted super awesome GBC you could see through :awesome:

Damn right. Seeing the innards of electronics was awesome as a kid xD

Well I don't necessarily agree with this. The DSLite was completely useless. It was just a nicer looking version of the first DS. So they only really made a superficial version and got people to spend a gross amount of money on an object that was completely pointless.

The DSi at least has a camera/music/downloads. Not to mention it has games that are exclusive now that no other GB can play.

I'm just really annoyed that it's not backwards compatible... Sure it plays DS games but...what about all the other Gameboy games? DL them for money? EHHHhhhh...gotta keep the other DS to play those. And my DS doesn't even play gameboy color so. XD @_@ woo!

It's pretty much a repeat of when Nintendo came out with the Gameboy Pocket. Just a smaller version of the same thing...or when they came out with the Gameboy Advance SP...or the Gameboy Micro, now that thing was pointless. Nintendo's been ripping off consumers for years now, they're pros at it.

I just got the new issue of Game Informer in the mail today, and they actually go in depth with all the features, so I took a couple pics for you guys (sorry, I can't get to the scanner atm).

So basically the cam is all pointless crap that little kids will like to play around with.

Doesn't sound too shabby, although I hate AAC format with a passion (it's the crap iTunes uses, MP4's or whatever). Still relatively pointless though, especially since the alterations you can make to song clips aren't permanent.

Not to worry, someone has already developed a new R4 for it so you won't need to re-buy games you already paid for. Still, it is very annoying that they took out backwards compatibility, but I guess they had to make room for their precious camera.

Actually, I was really pleasantly surprised with the DSi. When I went out to buy it I expected to get a DS Lite that could take pictures and play music.

But then when I played around with it I realized that since it has downloadable content I suspect it will end up with a lot more features that the DS Lite lacked.

Overall I'd describe it as a portable Wii, it has the whole "channel" thing, allowing you to download games or the web browser (which isn't bad... It's not great, but it's not bad) and keep them on an SD card or just the memory built into the DSi itself.

Seeing as Nintendo added tons of new game systems for the Wii shop channel, I'd expect to see the same for the DSi shop channel (so I'm really hoping to download Gameboy games).

The camera was better than I expected as well, they did a terrible job of describing it on the site. I mean if all it did was edit the pictures the way they described it then it would suck, but the distort feature is actually a lot of fun if you distort the screen prior to taking photos (so you're distorting a moving image).

I'll admit that the other camera features do suck though. xD

EDIT: To be more on-topic, I'd have to say that I agree with the color choices. I chose black, but I would have preferred more options.

Ughhh I want a DSI so badly but I want a white one. Does anyone know when the white Dsi's are going to be out cause I already have a black ds lite and I do not want to get a light blue one. All I want is just plain white thats all. I am going to kepp my ds lite to play gba games and when I get Dsi I will take pictures etc... Is it really worth waiting for a plain white one?

I have no idea when new colors are coming out. But I can definitely relate to you because I'm holding off on getting a DSi for that same reason. I wonder if anyone else knows on this forum if/when the new colors will be out?

I got my dsi in black.... but if they were to have a dsi in white in north america, I would get that one... also, I agree the japanese colours are very tacky!

i wish they would have orange, dark blue, green, and white dsi and please make future ones have gba ports please
