SE's Path

Kind of noticed the path that SE seem to be heading towards. They seem to be more heading into a less RPG styled path and more in Personal Computer games and creating games that probably assuming would be more popular for a Western Fanbase.

But are you happy with the path that SE seems to be heading into ? They seem to be enjoying making more games that would be suited more towards Microsoft than Sony. Are you happy with that ?

Will you enjoy buying a SE made game based of World War II and almost like a Tomb Raider styled game ?

Honestly not really happy that the path that SE is following, kind of want the simple days of just Final Fantasy to return. Usually dislike the type of games that SE is starting to make, so not going to buy them.

Kind of trusting that Final Fantasy 13 is going to turn out great, but is starting to worry about Final Fantasy 14 and how way different it's going to be from the series.

Honestly Last Remnant looks fine and the Tomb Raider game looks great and is probably designed to help the Eidos side of the company.

But guess worried that they are going to dump the main series and focus more on other things, of course Final Fantasy 125 would be pretty stupid it can't go on forever..

But still think that it's strange the path that SE is heading towards.

What do you think ? What are your opinions towards this ? ^^

Honestly, I don't like this new change at all. The Final Fantasy series was one of the most famous series that SE has ever created. Musta made billions off of it. No one else is going to buy their things if they start making a World War II PC game that they made that looks a lot like risk or something. No, the people want something as good as Final Fantasy, or as good as Tomb Rader, if not better. I believe SE should stay where they are in Sony. But the reason they're probably not going to stay with Sony is because Sony is going bankrupt because of all these Blue Ray disks they're making. They're so expensive to make and not many people are buying them due to high price. Is this the end of Sony?

Is this the end of Sony?

It could be the end of Sony. But Sega and Nintendo have made some huge mistakes in the past. The Nintendo Dreamcast didn't sell so greatly and Nintendo fought back with the massive money-selling Wii.

But then again they didn't have to go through a money depression. The Bad luck Sony is having, and the depression may cause Sony's end.

Thought that Square Enix was Sony's last hope and chance to make something.
But it looks like Square wants to drop out on them. VS 13 won't do enough..

Knowing SE they will go multi- console on most things, and the PS3 is doing okay in Japan. The multi- console sales may help Sony struggle through.

But if Nintendo and Sega can struggle and break through their mistakes and live to tell the tale. So can Sony ? ( Hopefully ^- ^ " )

Let's get a few things straight here. Blue-ray is a very succesful format that is replacing the DVD at a staggering rate. Much faster than the DVD replaced the VHS, check yourself. Sales of Blue-ray discs were multiplied by 80 between 2006, and 2008, and being the only physical HD storage medium on the market after the demise of the HD-DVD, it is not going to put Sony out of business. Quite the contrary, if anything it will probably help Sony cope with the current financial crisis.

The way I see it, things aren't really changing all that much at Square Enix. Not from a customer's perspective anyway. Square Enix' acquisition of Eidos Interactive should probably be seen more as a an attempt to branch out rather than shift focus. Final Fantasy and JRPG's in general aren't nearly as popular here in the west as they were 10 years ago, so if SE wants to retain American and European market shares, they must go new ways. Final Fantasy and other JRPG's will probably always be the mainstay of the company, and I'm pretty confident that any future games catering to a western audience, will be made by either Eidos or one of the development teams that Square acquired alongside Eidos.

Oh and it's probably a little too early worrying about FF XIV. Nothing substantial has been mentioned about this release so far.

I have to agree, Square Enix are only making way for the Western Market, the people who make the Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest games etc. will probably have little, if no say in what SE do abroad. The likes of Nomura and Co. will still be focused on SE's main series, Final Fantasy whereas, people who worked at Edios will most likely still be working on the same projects now that they're with SE, just altered slightly.

As for Sony (which I won't go into a detail about to stop the topic going astray) they outsold both the Wii (for the first time) and Xbox360 little than 2 weeks ago in Japan, so do I think they're in trouble? No.
