I've heard this questions many times before, over forums, over research sites, my parents, friends, etc. Keep in mind, I come from a Christian faith. Even though I'm still trying to figure out my faith as a whole, I mainly agree with the main bits/commandments. I welcome every religious, or other input.

I've been told that the Bible especially says that animals have no souls. I've heard since their so lowly and have little intelligence, they couldn't possible be worth saving. I've also heard that they couldn't have souls because they don't have the mind to pray to Christ to be saved. Among many other things... But anyways, what do you think?

I'll add my opinion later, if a few people care to join this friendly little conversation/debate.

Yes I would have to agree that animals have souls. I mean hypothetically if you were retarted (I mean mentally ill) therefore you would not be able to pray, also you would have little inteligence. So if you were like that wouldn't you like to think that you had a soul...

I'd say if the animals really have so little intelligence, and because of that they can't be saved, then there are alot of humans who couldn't be saved either. Mentally retarded people, and some just plain dumb people. I don't think that's a reason to say that they don't have a soul.

^^^ we humans are more inteligent than animals they are lower than us in this perspective, that's fact ^^^

About if animals have souls, I couldn't really decided, the whole "soul" stuff comes from religion, and difeent religions have diferent views, I think in christianity animals are not even mention a lot, and in that religion they problably have no soul, but there are others that believe that animals do, and others that everything has a soul.

And when is all so teorical, is hard to decide

Just because us humans can understand what we say and have more power over the animals doesn't mean to say that they are "souless" or a lesser being.

The whole idea of Humans being the best is disgusting.

Yea, if anything, humans are the lowest of the low.

Yeah, they do pretty much live like us. Only thing really different is that we have more complicated problem solving skills. I mean...

They can feel pain and love. For example, my dog: She knows when she's scolded, she puts her head down and whines. Whenever she accidently get's hit or something, she'll yelp and run off. If she get's scratched, she move her head for more, or wag her tell.

Does anybody else notice how animals can act human, or do most not think so?

Of course animals do not have souls. That's why it's fine for a lion to kill a zebra, but not a person. Whats next, will you ask if plants have souls?

Even considering that animals could be on the same level as people is just embarrassing...

My personal belief is that everything is, in fact, an aspect or a part of God. It's quite a pantheistic outlook (pan = all, theis = God :. 'all is God'). From great elephants down to tiny insects; from intelligent humans to (apparently) dumb rhinocerous's. A favourite line I like from the Bible is 'as above, so below'. Early relativity theory, see?

Ever seen a hologram projection? Pretty cool things. And a good analogy here is that if the hologram is showing a picture of something, and you insert a mirror in the hologram, you 'cut out' a part of the whole holgraphic image. However, the small section you've cut out is exactly the same as the bigger whole image. See? The whole universe is God, one great big, gigantic, self-conscious, hyperdimensional organism. If you look at the Big Bang theory, all matter in the entire Universe originally started as a superdense, superheavy point that was infintestimally small. All the matter in the Universe, compressed into this extraordinarily tiny point, which one day burst. This means, that all things we see now came from that original point of supercondensed matter. In fact, we are Universe. Everything. This includes animals. What makes animals different from humans is their minds.

I agree with Kether. The only thing that makes humans different from other animals is their minds. Are minds are more advance, that's all.

I know many animal could rip humans in half, just like we could usually outsmart animals.

We can protect ourselves for them, but if we didn't have our minds, we'd be one of the lowest classes on earth. Since I think we're more alike then most people seem to think, if somebody said they didn't have a soul, it'd be aiming towards people not having souls either.

Hmm, I'm not sure about this one, really...never really given much thought about it. I put "yes" because...well, I don't really know. >.< I'm not sure if they do have a soul or not. But reading everyone's posts certainly is interesting...makes sense, I guess. Maybe they do have a soul...I mean, they move, don't they? Even think too...some are even smarter than some humans =P,

Corithians, maybe?

I haven't read much from the Bible, but I've heard from people who've read it that animals do NOT have souls. I find that hard to believe.

With people even getting attached to animals, animals having mates, having children, showing affection, showing pain... It's senseless to me to think that animals have a life and go through all that for nothing in the end. Just... Not existing after death. Humans go through pain and happiness, and supposedly go somewhere, what about animals?

That's a very good point right there. I will ask someone later. He'll know what to say. :) This discussion makes me think now.

yes i believe all living things have souls and when you go to sleep, i believe that your soul goes on a voyage to some unknown place.
