Geocities, Angelfire, Tripod. As far as I know, they're not really all that different. I don't think you even need to know HTML for any of them.

Synthasite is another nice one. Though I don't use it since I prefer to do them from scratch. I did check it out though and it does have some nice templates. Bravehost is another decent one. Do note how ever that space for pages and what not is realatively small for any free web hosting.

does anyone know how to create a text based rpg?
The simpliest way to create a website is www.hpage.com.
There you have many features, storage space and design templates and it's totally free.
For people without programming skills but also suitable for professionals.
