I decided after being sick of wasting turns (especially on FF8 and FF9) casting scan and / or sense to see how much HP my opponent has left to build a script that keeps track of it for me (and now you). It's suitable for both the PC and Console versions of every final fantasy to date, including Sub-games, and runs on any computer that uses Windows, or otherwise supports basic scripting technology.

It's extremely simple to use (directions shown on the link)

It's only taken me a few seconds to make but I'd like to see if it has an value here in the community, and if it does whether or not to develop it further, and in such cases and feedback etc would be greatly appreciated. You can find it on my site at http://www.cookynet.com/finalfantasyboss.html

While nice, isn't it the same as just using a calculator?

At the moment yes, however I find it easier to use than a calculator when it's on my big pc screen, and a more dedicated tool. I am also collecting HP data for all the major bosses to add into the app so the user can just select the boss they are facing.

Final Fantasy Boss Calculator, FFIX edition

I have made a new slightly more useful version of my Boss Calculator which no longer requires the user to enter the HP of their opponent, they simply select the opponent from a list and then follow the on-screen instructions. This completely removes the need for Scan and Sense (annoying abilities considering how slow FF 9 can run) for ff IX. A similar version for the other games will be coming in due course. You can download it from http://www.cookynet.com/finalfantasyboss.html

Well on the one hand I think it is a good calculator but on the other hand I don't think that someone use it because if I fight again the enemies, I don't stop after every damage und use the calculator.
Well just my opinion. ;)

I think it would be useful against bosses with stupidly high hp, i think it would have been a god send when I was trying to beat dark bahamut and kept getting my arse handed to me, all the times I tried to desperately heal, when for all i know, i could have been within one hit of winning, I always tried to work it out in my head but it never got me very far

Good stuff if you ask me :neomon:

Seems like a reliable tool... Wish I had this for my fight when I decided to solo Ultima Weapon... With all people I had to use Yuffie.

I think that simple math would work well too. Scan the first turn and then subtract the attack points. It could do it in your mind. But it would be a great way to keep track of extremely high HP boses, like Omega Weapon in FFXII, now that would give me an headache while doing it in my head, plus then you don't have to waste a precious turn using scan with your new one.

Nice idea, even though I don't see myself using it as I never replay a game and the tool is mainly for those who do.

BTW, there is a bug, at least in the version which in the first post.
If you heal too much, the HP can be greater than MAX HP.

For example, I can do that Steiner (who has MAX HP of 200) heals himself with 500 HP [-500] and then he will have 700 HP even though his max is 200.

there is in the latest release as well (the final fantasy IX edition), thanks for spotting that!

Update: Bug Fixed.

Final Fantasy 7 Edition Released

I have made a Final Fantasy VII Boss Calculator. This is useful especially in the older games since it will save wasting time casting "Scan" or sense to check a bosses HP.
To use:
1. Open the script
2. Select the Boss you are fighting against
3. Each time damage is caused to the boss, enter the value of the damage. If a boss is cured, enter the value as a negative number
4. The dialog will show you how much HP the boss has remaining all the way down to 0 HP.
5. Repeat 2 3 and 4

I haven't yet released an FF8 edition, because the HP changes based on your level, have you tried the ffx version?

I remember coming up with something like this years ago when I was fighting the last boss in FF8 (Ultimecia fused with the GF) I had to pause the game every time I did damage and subtract the amount from her HP, I only did this because the fight took so long
