Yeah but if you can not beat the game what would be the point of playing it? I bet there will be a final final boss one day in the last expansion. Yeah but I bet we will be able to beat it one day. 12.95 hmmmm I guess it is not that bad. Is it the same for the 360?

Yes its the same on 360 and it can be played with Xbox Live silver.
Like I was saying before, there are multiple final bosses for each expansion pack and mission line(some quest lines). You can for example "beat" Chains of Promathia or Treasures of Aht Urghan, but it isnt the same as beating FFXI.

Three mini expansions are being made at the moment. Plus, it is rare to see people with all their jobs maxed out who started when the game started. By now I would say it is damn impossible to max out every job if you just start. Unless you don't work or go to school.

The only way to really "beat" the game is on a personal level. It is over when you decided you've done all you want to do with the game.

I think you should just move away from the idea of beating it all together. FFXI isnt a game you can pick up and play through and move on when you're finished. Like Gray Fox was saying, You have to define your own goals in the game, it can never officially be beaten(this is true in most MMOs). I hate to say it, but I actually don't think FFXI is the game for you. People play for different reasons, getting uber gear, storyline, or just the community(or all of the above). Theres plenty of things to accomplish in the game, but if you want to play it just so you can say you've beat every Final Fantasy... Then I would suggest you don't even bother starting it.

And for what it's worth, clearing any of the expansion packs is pretty much the equivalent of clearing any offline FF, though in most cases XI's expansions take longer and are much harder than any other FF game.

No I am just saying that I want it because its a ff online game that everybody could play. Ok but if it does have a final boss in each expansion then thats cool. Yeah but that means the game will never truly end. They will just keep making expansions right? Anyways am still buying it but if its not something I like then screw it. Well as far as the future of the game goes, there are three mini expansions that will be coming out soon and speculated that at least one more major expansion will be made. But the game itself is in the twilight of its life and Square is already working on its new MMO "Rapture" which is to be previewed during the third quarter of 09.

So as far as more expansions, you don't have to worry about buying a lot more.

MMOs are not shut down just because they get old. Contrary to popular belief FFXI is not dying at a rapid rate. FFXI still has around a consistant 500k subscribers and is making SE a lot of profit. It has outlived many MMOs that came after it, Age of Conan comes to mind. Its got several years left in it atleast. As long as theres enough people playing to support it(and make real profits) SE will keep it up and keep releasing new content. SE has said several times that they would like for FFXI and the new MMO to coexists.

I wasn't saying that the game would shut down, far from it. Just like the everquest ones and so on I know FF will be the same. I was saying that they would not have to catch up on expansions. Square had recently come out and talked about the new mini expansions and stated that they were going to veer away from the larger expansions as much as they could now. Thus they can concentrate on other things and just give you a mini update every now and then. PS2 limitations are the difference between this and others.

Its just the same on the 360 as it is the PC. All the expansions and so on. Just need the game, keyboard and internet connection.
