Just something I noticed recently while training in Ozmone (it's a new game and thats the best place IMO for early game). Between the three files on my card, I have over 100 hours of gameplay. Right about the time I tipped that mark, my loot drops became dramatically better. I haven't attributed it to the monographs because I only have 1, but I bought it a good 10 hours before this started happening.
I was killing Mesmenirs, and I suddenly started getting way more Destrier Manes and Bronze Maces, which I assumed were rare drops. Anyone got any theories?

Only minor ones from killing groups. I was just running around killing everything I found, so the highest chains were like 3-5.

the bronze mace is not at all a rare drop and is only an upgrade up from a mace and both can be bought in rabanastre. The destrier manes are only poachable i think.

EDIT: my bad i just looked up the bronze mace drop % and it is a rare drop for some reason, i guess you just got real lucky, also not picking up the previous loots will increase your chances of getting a better drop after so many chain kills

As I said before, I was not chaining to the extent you are insinuating. The only chains were those you get by killing small groups before moving on to the closest monster.

I dunno... I also just walk around Ozmone, killing Mesmenirs, Zaghnals, and Zus in one hit. It's relatively easy to get the Bronze Mace for me because, if your theory is correct, I have 224 hours on my biggest file.
