So apparently videogame consoles are evil and have "toxic chemicals" in them:

I knew Greenpeace were crazy, bullshitting hippies...but they're gonna be in so much trouble if the gaming companies catch wind of this. I love how hippie organizations always break the law to try to accomplish stuff, this is such huge copyright violation. And frankly, I hope they get sued into oblivion for making that.

Someone should send this video to Microsoft ^_^

After seeing this, here here! I whole heartedly agree! That was so lame, they don't even think about the lawsuit that is gonna hit them. Master Chief, God of War and Mario! That's a triple threat to suing, but I actually found this kind of funny!

GOW: How is one little box so dangerous? I'm here to battle, I'm the friggen god of war!

Mario: I'ma gonna win... Suckas!

Mario: Oh no, notta my little Wii!

And Mario crapping a mushroom... LOL!
They deserve major suing, those Greenpeace mega hippies.

I hated Greenpeace before but now I have a vendetta against them. So I emailed Nintendo's legal branch, and I'll probably send Sony a letter too. They seem to be such greedy bastards that I'm sure they'll jump over any chance to sue people. This is the letter I wrote to Nintendo:

Dear sir or madame,

I was browsing GameTrailers earlier this evening and came across a video someone submitted that I believe you guys would be interested in seeing. Apparently the organization Greenpeace is now campaigning that current video game consoles have "toxic chemicals" in them. Well, to get their message out, they've decided to make a video to go along with their smear campaign. I'm fairly positive this video of theirs is violating copyright laws, since they are using your Mario, Sony's Kratos and Microsoft's Master Chief. Here is the website of their smear campaign, dubbed Clash of the Consoles:

I don't approve of any other things Greenpeace has done in the past, but as a gamer I'm outraged that they would do something like this. Mario crapping out a mushroom? That's just unacceptable. I hope you guys can take action about this, as something needs to be done. From what I've heard, they're just making stuff up about that toxic chemical issue and simply polled people on the issue.

You'd imagine that they had something better to do like hugging trees.

Okay, now I find that offensive. We do not just go around hugging trees, we try to save the environment. I'll probably say something, but I have a fear of starting to flame again.

I honestly thought you were better than that. But that statement just acid rains all over my forest!

Know, as a representative of Greenpeace, I know that they went in the wrong with this. I know that they are getting a law suit for what they did. I am against this, but... at least they are trying to do something. They aren't sitting on their fat arse like the rest of us. They try to save the environment, they try to make this world a better place to live in. Yeah, even for you guys, but, all you guys are too selfish to wake up and realise that they are trying to do this.

Now, if tey are all going to get a lawsuit, then the rest of us should as well. There shouldn't be an Unofficial Forums to Final Fantasy. We have all, at one stage, drawn or taken a picture of a game, then, we should get a law suit. Sorry for ranting, but I am just really pissed off at you guys for taking it so far.

Try reading why they did it. Please, I know you guys are intelligent, but please try taking it in an intelligent manner.

All you guys can at least do is try.

Pissed off for people having opinions? Sorry, but thats the way people feel. Its not like someone posted this story and didnt find any evidence of whats gone on. GP are the ones being OTT with this matter. Because they cant get enough publicty they go after the big companys for cash and just bitch and moan their heads off.

To me, that doesn't sound like an opion.

No the hell they don't! They are seriously trying to save the environment.

Now, I'm going to listen to some relaxing whale music! Hopefully I might mellow out

While I might not necessarily agree with everything Greenpeace does, I don't think this was such an awful thing to do. I can't believe some people are actually getting offended just because a favorite video game character is getting lampooned. I don't see why it's so wrong for Greenpeace to try to grab attention - that's exactly what they're supposed to be doing, raising awareness (again, whether or not I agree with the issues is a different matter).

Yeah flame a mod, arent you clever? And yes those are peoples opinons, respect them or just get a warning, simple as.

They are trying to save the enivorment by sueing games companies? How is that even helping the enviroment at all?

Come, come. Did you watch the video? Whether or not you agree or believe it, you must admit that it did make a statement about environmental issues brought on by the production of consoles.

OK, I am sorry, I'll edit my post, it's just that Im not in the happiest mood right now. I strongly doubt that they are going to sue the gaming companies.

With that said, please, try to look at it with our view, fighting with the people who are trying to save the world isn't going to get us far

I cant watch a video because this PC has no speakers. I read the links provided and I believe there is nothing to be gained by Greenpeace here. Big companies like Nintendo, Sony and such are going to do their best to sell safe products as they are used globally. Selling something vaulty wordwide is mass suicide for a company that big and popular.

And DS, you do the same. No one has flamed or attacked your opinon. so theres no excuse for you to do it to others.

...If you feel that way about a mass corporation, why don't you look a little closer at companies like Coca-Cola. One Coca-Cola factory in India virtually monopolized a local town's supply of water and caused an artificial drought.

Anyway, I think some of the problems with the consoles might not be in the actual products themselves, but possibly in the by-products (factory emissions and whatnot) that come with making them.

Thats one Coke factory. They should have known better then. That really didnt make an effect wordl wide did it? First Ive heard of it. But it wouldnt affect me anyway as I dont drink Coke or live in India. Childish you may think? Hm, whatever I say back. If it doesnt affect me or my family, I really dont care about it.

I believe GP are OTTing this and thats my opinon on the matter. Going on about over compaines is not going to alter my mind.

The thing is if you look and read what the reports state it is what companies are doing beyond the legal requirement for recycling and really companies have better things to do than appease the likes of GP good intentions or not. The thing at the end is that they do what is expected of them.

Also the laughable thing is Nintendos report for example is largely based on not having the information at hand. I'm sorry but bashing a company with nothing concrete to back it up is something I'd expect more from tabloid newspapers.

But of course this will bring more attention to the reports although not in the way GP would want.

Alright, that's fine. It's perfectly understandable to not really mind if someone else is getting harmed. But I don't see the reason to bash people who are trying to protect others, even if it seems futile.

Anyway, the Coke incident is just one of many - I was trying to give a concrete example to show the overall ethics of the company. Coke knew what it was doing when it went to that village - it's not only that specific factory that is culpable. Similarly, if a video game console's production will harm someone, I don't see the problem with trying to hold that company accountable.

If it's a bull claim and the consoles aren't hurting anyone, then this is a perfect chance for Nintendo, SE, etc. to stand up and show that their business practices are ethical.

Also, if they're trying to sustain the environment, it does make sense for a group to try to stop major polluters such as production factories - rather than the 90's version of environmentalism which was all about cleaning up the mess, it's more effective to try to stop pollution from ever happening.

But why bother to take on large companies when their lawyers are just going to turn around and send them on their way with a D for effort and trying. Im bashing Greenpeace because its like theyve run out of ideas and think that this way they can get cash to help them and publicity for themselves.

But now Im off as I have a job to get to. Now Id lark my arse off if GP decide to take on a bookshop!!

Well, that's why they're making vids like these; a lawsuit on its own might seem like a minor thing to the corporations, but if it gains the support of a large amount of the consumers, then they'll have to yield or compromise in order to make sure they keep their paychecks at the max.

Also note that I haven't done enough research on this specific issue to make a real stand; I'm just playing devil's advocate with ya.
:monster:

again saphire ,i am sorry for flaming, but im just trying to get my voice heard. but please, try to look at it from our view, trying to talk to a world who wont listen isnt easy. all we are trying to do is get our voice heard, and this video did just that and we hope this wakes eveybody up
