Just bought it at last! FF fanboys forgive me, ive been working away and broke up with my gf so havn't felt ready untill now!

My god, is that not THE best opening sequence ever!!! Better than in any movie I've ever seen. I though Moogles must have replaced my PS2 with a PS3 whilst I was asleep!

The best voice acting in any FF so far as well, real British actors instead of Americans pretending at last!!!!! (ok, so the grunts are rubbish but Balthias is wonderfull).

Still getting used to the new combat system, seems like it is going to become hard work but I think its ok, miss ATB though.

It seems that Square have really pulled out the stops at making characters again! I love them all so far, the main character (Vaan) being by far the weakest IMHO.

Rogue Tomato!

Yeah rogue tomato is most definetly ftw, I tell ya man...if he was given a chance to level up and train for like, another day or something he would be able to one shot KO Yiazmat with just his good looks and charm.

Don't worry about the combat system though, you'll get used to it soon and you'll also absolutely love having no random battles.

One word of advice though, try to enjoy the game as much as you can the first time through, if you really enjoy it its not like you can't replay it but it takes a lot more motivation to do so. Basically, don't skip any scenes and try to drink it all in on the first try if you can.

You broke up with your girlfriend? When?
I love the opening movie, heck I love all the cut scenes and FMVs Ive witnessed so far! The moogles are beyond adoreable and yes the voice acting is brilliant, Basch is soooooooooo Russell Crowe ^^

I wasn't too into FFXII at first, but...I'm playing it my second time through and now that I have a good hang on things, it's really worthwhile. ^__^

Sorry about your gf, man.

I must admit, I do love the new battle system in XII; having the ability to see opponents and not have random battles every five seconds is definately a plus. I find it also makes the game harder because the enemy attacks more relentlessly. There will probably be a lot that you miss on your first run through because it's a musch more bustling experience than the others. I've got the guide but I aint using it so I've missed loads of stuff, I'll use the guide on my second run through.

o.m.g

:D

Anyway, I'm so glad you are enjoying this dude! VA is really superior, just wait until you hear the judges speak :D

I just started a new game, right? And I'm leveling Vaan up like unbelievable. ^__^
I'm really starting to love the battle system, and the whole FFTactics feel. ^__^

The combat system is definately growing on me the more I play, its the whole gambit thing that seems like its going to get complicated!

Learnt an important life lesson already.... leave canabalising dinosaurs amd patroling werewolves well alone.

As Ubergoat (great name man) suggested, I'm playing through like every other FF game. First time with no guide or spoilers. Once (or if!) I complete the game then I'll replay with a guide.

My first play through was not an enjoyable experience, I sort of envy those that actually enjoy playing this game because I wish I could but I just can't, the Battle System is too complicated and about as non-FF as it gets, as for now I've let my cousin borrow this game becaus he likes FF games also, I suppose one day I might give it another try but until then I'm happy with FFX and KHII ^_^

The battle system non FF? Since when were random battles Final Fantasy? It's far from complicated, though gambits may take some getting used to. The battle system still has FF elements in it, such as the usage of spells, summons etc.

Here's hoping you'll like it in the future.

The only thing about the non random battles is that if you try to run and you're in a huge open area, a lot of the times you're going to be running for a really long time. Some of the enemies like to chase you until you go off to the next area. It does make it a little more exciting though. Especially if the enemy is way stronger than you and is killing your party off one by one :P

XD
Those werewolves on the Giza plains are only like level 20 or 21. I tried taking them on with just Vaan and Penelo at the beginning of the game with them both at level 19, and they butchered me. XD
I guess you're just not meant to enter the next area so early. lol.

ANd also...it's not worth it to use the guide the first time around; you'll miss out on things anyway. It's better to get a feel for the game first. And it's not too long of a play, so you should be able to beat it in around 30-40 hours if you're good. =]

Same here. My first impressions were actualy good. I loved it! But then I declined as time passed. But now, after a long break, I'm enjoying it quite a lot; I'm hooked. The battle system is a big part of this. Love it.
