Merging Genres

A'yo, what you guys think about Hip-Hop and Rap and R&B almost completely being fused to gather as one genre. Me personally, I'm an up and coming rapper. And Older people I know such as my mom and her friends think that R&B will never have the tremendously appeal they had before Hip-Hip and Rap because Hip-Hop and Rap is messing it up. I have to admit, there are a lot of song where Hip-Hop and Rap artist tries to make a song along the R&B lines and REALLY suck at it. And I would rather R&B singer to do song with only R&B in them. There are some exceptions, but for the most part, my moms right. So, what do you guys think?

I don't think there is anything wrong with RnB artits and rappers doing collaborations. I think that a rapper featuring in an RnB song gives it something a lil extra, makes it better in a way. But yeah its better sometimes when Rnb is left as Rnb and rap is left as rap

Agreed, when I listen to some of the R&B mixed with Rap, sometime it really messes it up. Nowadays, there a lot of Remixes of R&B songs that become spoiled by Rap. Now don't get me wrong, I love Rap. It's just that there's a line between the two. Possibly a thin line, but a line none the less...

Most rappers who do collabs with R 'n' B Artists are only in it for the money, they don't actually care about the music. You'd never hear Rakim (God rest his soul) featuring in an Usher song.
