Zeromus... what else?

hey everyone, new to the forums here, glad to meet all of you

i do have a legit question about zeromus. i've read the posts that i could find on him, but im having a lot of trouble fighting him. i've beaten all the optional bosses, edge is 66, rydia is 63, cecil is 66, rosa is 65 and kain is 67, and rydia has bahamut.

my trouble comes in the beginning of the fight. zeromus casts nothing but dark portal and big bang. his big bangs are hitting me for 2k usually, and he even does this thing where he'll cast big bang 2 times in a row before i can cycle through my characters and that almost always kills everyone. if it doesn't, there's no way i can recover to win. i do steal the dark matter, but that doesn't give me any results. i dont notice any better performance with or without the dark matter.

i do what everyone writes, that is have edge throw, rydia cast bahamut or asura, have cecil attack or cure, rosa cure 4 and kain jump. it doesn't matter, zeromus cuts me down on average 6 turns.

how many more levels do i need to gain to win? thanks for your input and time
 
Here's what i did (with level 50 characters). Before using the crystal on him, have Rosa cast protect and haste on everyone, and have Edge steal the dark matter. This should make things slightly easier. After using the crystal have Kain jump, Rydia summon Asura, Rosa cast Curaja, Edge throw any weapons you're not using and Cecil attack normally. Do this every turn and you should beat him down in no time. If you're still having trouble raise your character levels to around 70 as Rydia said.
 
I used about the same tactic as Kain did, I managed to defeat him at lvl 54 (with Cecil) the first time I played the game. You can easily defeat him like that:), not that was a lie, he was hard, but you'll manage:)
 
My weakest character was level 45 the first time i beat him. Stratagy is definitely more important than level ;)
 
Whitout a doubt! A friend of mine used cheat codes when he was playing, and he had problems at lvl 99 :P
 
hmmm i was lv 54 as well i think
i put cecil kain yang edge and rosa as my party
i attacked with yang and cecil
i used jump with kain
i threw with edge
im not sure if my rosa had curaja but i used my strongest cure with her anyway
