Well this is a general Final Fantasy discussion thread based off of the company's inability to provide decent, accurate release dates as well as games that are really attracting Final Fantasy Fans' attention.

I don't think Final Fantasy is much to look forward these days, at least not as much as in the past. It was almost known right off the bat when a Final Fantasy title was going to be released and we knew it would be released without delay. If news came out that a Final Fantasy game was coming out in a few months, it would come out in a few months. Now we hear about a new Final Fantasy title coming out, they say it will come out in a few months, but then we find out that the release date is pushed back quite a few months to even a year. What is the result of this you ask??? Well it's a merged company that works too far ahead of themselves and have a terrible sense of organization and time management. Squaresoft has always been great with release dates, but since their merger, "I'm not necissarily blaming the merger" but I'm saying since they merged, they put a game into production, announce a release date, and just as they do, we hear not too long after about an even newer Final Fantasy Game, they announce a possible release date for that and voila, you guessed it an even newer title.

This happened when around the time of FFXI and FFX-2. I can't remember which title was announced first, but I remember that one of them was announced, the release date was pushed back numerous times after the other game was announced. Just as FFX-2 came out, Final Fantasy XII was announced, but when they announced a possible release date, they started focusing entirely on the Final Fantasy VII Compilation, which that in my eyes was disasterous. They didn't know which one to finish off first, Advent Children was delayed once or twice from what I remember, the cell phone game release was a total joke, Dirge of Cerberus, I have no idea what's even happening with that game. I don't mean to sound like a huge complainer, but I'm sure most of you see where I'm getting at here.

I don't even think FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus is even released, neither is FFXII and they are already working on a complete Final Fantasy XIII mini series.

I'm going to stop here now, let a few of you get into this and I would like to hear your thoughts and oppinions on this.

Wow quite the rant there I kow someone you should hook up with you would have a lot of fun together.

Any way I know exactly what you mean but I personally am quite prepeared to blame the merger. Though it was mostly people from the original squaresoft who took up the top spots of the company. However some from Enix got a few and they are trying to make a lot of money of the FF franchise by making as many as possible while they are getting some of that money. This is the main cause behind all the release dtae changes because the compaby is now making too many things at once and it can not cope.

I know what you mean, Japan are the lucky ones, they never really seem to suffer when it comes to the release of SE games (probably most games to be honest) and the Uk are always last to get anything. Im particualry annoyed about the release of Kindom Hearts II, its been released in Japan and America for sometime, whilst I just sit back and listen to how great it is, I dont see why I need to get an imported PS2 and game just because they cannot organise themselfs.

The only benifit is whilst Japan gets the games first, we get modifications to the games in the meantime, such as the overhaul to Dirge of Cerberus' gameplay and any other criticised features.

Square really just need to get thier act together and stop building up peoples hopes, of new releases coming sooner than expected.

Indeed the fact we tend to get improved versions does seem like a worth while substitute for the lateness on the surface but in actuality Japan useually get a remade verson themselves so we are still getting games late for nothing.

I love living in Scotland, but I hate that we get all the great games last. I am patiently waiting for KHII, DoC, FFXII but yet, SE does nothing to speed this along.

EDIT: Out of curiosity, who did Square soft merge with? I thought it was just a change of name after the release of Kingdom Hearts...

SE definitely has gotten ahead of themselves. We would all see a noticable difference and improvement if they focused mainly on finishing one title, then moved on to the next. On the SE website, Europe, they are advertising for more employees. Complete lack of organisational skills now.
