Why does Barret have a machine gun arm?

Some people says that Barret got the arm by getting born with it.

Some people think that Barret got the arm by cutting his hand and building it.

This is my thing,I think that Barret is just a cyborg or his parents were cyborgs and Barret got it from them.But this is just a mystery.

It was mentioned in the game as to how he obtained his machine gun arm.

Under a Shinra raid of his home town Corel, Barret and his best friend Dyne were escaping the attack. They were shot at by soldiers and Dyne fell off a ledge, Barret caught him by the hand. The shooting persisted and both were shot in the hands which they were holding and Dyne fell. Barret was left with either no hand, or something completely useless, so he had a machine gun installed instead so he'd have something of use.

Also, this doesn't quite have anything to do with SE music sir. I think you had the FFVII section more in mind right?
