Who is your favourite character and why?

my favourite character has to be noah fon ronsenburg. there are many reasons for this:

the most important has to be his past. i really enjoyed unravelling his story. His past (especially with Basch), why he joined the empire, what happened to his mother, his hatred for Vayne.

i also liked his demeanour, the way he interacted with people was cool, and the way he stuck with Larsa and protected him showed you that deep down he is a good guy

and the ending was nice (even though he died), as he stepped in to protect Larsa from Vayne, and how he made up with Basch before he died was good.

Beware of soft spoilers, but not really. They're quite subtle and not blurted outright in your face. But if you're really picky, stay away!

I find it interesting how a lot of people find the characters of FFXII boring and not very interesting, that they have no pasts or personalities, when they really have quite BIG pasts and vice versa. I guess the problem is that when it comes down to it, you just get to see the tip of the iceberg in FFXII. But when you look into let's say, the bestiary, you can find all sorts of interesting facts about the characters. However, when it comes to perhaps the more detailed pasts of Vaan and Penelo, and perhaps to Fran and how she and Balthier met up, it's left to speculations.

I love Balthier, I really do. He's got a bit of Han Solo going on there, and his past and personality are perhaps not the most original, but it works. I would've want to see him living out his sky pirating class a bit more however, and we didn't see much of his womanizing. I secretly long for an Indiana Jones-esque game with Fran and Balthier, skypirating around Ivalice. (Revenant Wings was cute but didn't really do it for me.)

Otherwise, I really loved Reddas. When I realized what he'd been, and done, I was all...oooh... I find everything around Nabudis interesting, Basch and Noah as well.
