XBox Who here has played star ocean: the last hope

I have no idea. I played Star Ocean till the end of time... but I wasn't a big fan. I think the gameplay is pretty standard real time j-rpg combat for all the games. I don't know if there is a central theme linking them all together though. Sorry.

Star ocean 4 the last Hope is actually the first one in the series if it is a prequel right? Star ocean 4 looks like the best star ocean up to now but am not entirely sure why it is called 4.

As far i have seen in the trailers for it...the game looks fricking awesome!

Unfortuneatley, it is a 360 exclusive. I guess it is part of Square's promise to "spread the love to all systems."
It was a PS3 exclusive. The process was pretty funny. It went from being a PS3 exclusive, to having a small chace of being multiplatform, to being a 360 exclusive. It is sad.. I generally enjoyed Star Ocean: Til the End of Time, but I will not be playing The Last Hope as I do not plan on owning a 360.
It looks like it is going to be a pretty decent game though. Although the trailers do not excite me as a trailer should.
seems that square-enix are making all tri-ace developed games 360 exclusive nowadays, this would mean all star ocean games would be appearing on 360 only, whereas most FF games are remaining sony exclusive since the hardware of the ps3 allows them to experiement more.
for people that own both a 360 and a ps3 this is pretty good news as it gives them reason to hold on to there 360, for people that only hold either or the other, which do you prefer more star ocean or FF?
myself I rate FF better for story and star ocean better for pure action (star ocean has always been that little bit more intense on the action and difficulty compared to FF which is aimed at a wider audience. whereas star ocean is more for the power gamer and completist and tends to offer a challenge that they enjoy)
personally I dont own a ps3 yet, im waiting for the prices to drop (till that time i keep nicking my brothers to play epic games like mgs4 etc) but im very happy ill be able to play the next installment of the star ocean saga without having to nag my bro or wait for sony to drop there ps3 prices
(my fave star ocean so far has to be star ocean second story, very difficult game and two seperate story lines made it a total winner!)

Those PSP titles are few and far between... So I am not sure that it matters. Plus... the PSP is not necisarily the saftest boat to set sail on for developers.
Actually no for real it is the prequel of all the Star Oceans you can even look it up. It is not sarcasm. It is the first Star Ocean and it is 36o exclusive and will not come out for ps3. So for those who wanna play it get a 360.

Star Ocean 2 was great, but the third was little more than an average at best dungeon crawler with a pretty poor storyline. From what I've seen of the 4th game, it does look pretty good though. I just hope that it will be closer the second game in quality than the third.
star ocean 2 was by far my fave star ocean, if anything star-ocean is more of a techno themed rpg, compared to FF's magical themes (although they have dabbled in the realms of technology, magic is very much at the heart of it)
I'm personally looking forward to star ocean 4, Tri-ace did a good job with Infinite Undiscovery (despite what the review critics and there biaste opinions say, come on magazine reviewers still claim WoW is the best game ever lol, either that or hl2...) and I look forward to see how the next installment of the star ocean series turns out.
what i ment by FF's are mostly exclusive to the ps3, FF13 versus will not be coming out on the 360, but ps3, as well has Crisis Core and Dissidia being Psp exclusives, so its pretty much a given that certain FF titles will remain exclusives for the ps3/psp (FF11 doesnt count really tbh, it wasnt all that great as an FF game away, more of a mediocre mmo)
but its a good thing that they are putting tri-ace/square-enix titles on the xbox-360 as this opens up there potential market somewhat as the ps3 is currently an expensive machine and narrows the market those potential games to be open to, most people either own a ps3 or 360 so there bound to snag a good market share with this tactic, as well as give enjoyable titles to more potential players and veterans alike =)
