WHITE MAGE CHALLENGE

Select one of the following characters:

Name: Jocely Robino
Age: 22
Sex: F
Race: Human
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 115 lbs.
Personality: Quiet, business-like. She takes her job as a healer very seriously. Severe sense of right and wrong.
Appearance: Simple white tunic, calf-high black tights with calf-high leather boots. White bandanna wrapped and tied around her head.

Name: Ara'q Mal'iq
Age: 34
Sex: M
Race: Human
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 135 lbs.
Personality: Passionate, almost aggressive in his dealings with the injured and sick. Strong sense of humor.
Appearance: Loose-fitting brown shirt and pants made of light cotton, tied down at the waist with a black belt. Wears cured leather sandals.

Both characters use twin daggers as weapons, and are significantly skilled with them, though both are healers first and fighters only when necessary. The design of the daggers is up to you, however the blades should be no more than 9" long.

Both characters have access to the following spells:

Spell: Blessing
Energy Drain: 5%
Cast time: Instant
Effect: Heal minor to moderate injuries.

Spell: Breath of Life
Energy Drain: 10%
Cast Time: Short (5 seconds)
Effect: Heal moderate to major injuries.

Spell: Inhale
Energy Drain: 10%
Cast Time: Short (5 seconds)
Effect: Caster heals 50% of damage incurred. Can only be cast on self.

Spell: Circle of Protection
Energy Drain: 20%
Cast Time: Short (5 seconds)
Effect: Defends caster against physical attacks, diminishing the damage dealt by 50%. Lasts until cancelled by caster. Caster can cast no other spells while the Circle is up. Circle only protects caster.

Setting: Desert landscape, one small oasis which your clan is trying to defend from an invading force. Medieval setting, swords and bows are the chief weapons, along with mounted lancers. Steel armor and chainmail are the norm.

Your clan is outnumbered nearly two to one. The battle has been going on for a long while, and the situation has become somewhat drastic. Your clan's leader and best warrior has just gone down behind enemy lines to a moderate sword wound. Three warriors defend him, but they are surrounded.

Goal: Make your way to the downed general. Keep him, and preferably the other three warriors, alive until reinforcements arrive or you can extricate him from the situation.

Just a couple of questions:

-Are we controlling one or both of the two characters listed?

-So, this is like writing a short, 2000 word story where the character has to make it to the leader and three warriors, then rescue them?

-Does the character have to go alone?

One. I put two up there because some prefer to play male characters, some female. I'll edit that into the challenge for clarity's sake.

Essentially, yes, but in an RP framework. The character's goal is to rescue the leader and/or warriors, or keep them alive until reinforcements arrive. As to whether that happens, who can say?

Not necessarily. As was in the rules, any NPC the author needs are available to be used at their discretion. They can be random soldiers, named soldiers, or whatever the case may be. But the important thing is that the emphasis of the story is on the White Mage.
