What's "Monster Skill"?

I'm currently playing FFT. I'm at Chapter 3.

I don't know what Monster Skill does. The in-game description is worthless, and I've checked a few faqs but they still don't help.

Can anyone help?

P.S. Does Mediator only work on monsters? Or all enemies in general?

For monster skill, you need a human unit to have it as a support ability and a monster within 3 squares (not sure) and the monster will gain a new ability. For example, you get a black chocobo within range and it'll obtain an additional ability (it's either choco cure or choco meteor). And it'll add one or two extra skills to it. The red chocobo gets choco esuna or choco cure. That is how it works.

As for the mediator, it can work on both humans and monsters, but for monsters, if you change from mediator yet still have it as a secondary skill, you need the mediator's support skill "monster talk." But the mediator itself can use word skills on both monsters and humans without any suppport skill. The mediator's designed for that. Also, do get the support skill for "equip guns." It's fun if you can steal the elemental guns.
