Towards the end of the game I had 9999DMG Dragon Crest, I dealed 9999DMG with Flare + Reflect x 2, and I dealed 9999DMG with Steiner's Shock. So those I guess
In terms of damaging bosses, Zidane's Dyne skills were the most useful, as well as Vivi's Black Magic.
But overall, I thought Steal was the most useful ability, you could steal some really good stuff - particularly from bosses. It was necessary to try and steal from every boss.
Good call on the steal! The amount of good weapons you got early on from steal was high! Except sometimes it would take an age to steal and you've be there for ages, despite master thief ability.
Dragon crest was a solid attacking ability. Thievery would have been too, but i didn't steal enough to get that up to 9999.
MP Attack was also useful for my tanks like Zidane and Steiner, since earlier on they don't use their MP much, increasing the attack strength was also a bonus.
I would have to say Zidane's Dyne attacks would always save my ass in a boss battle. But then again so did Steiner's Magic Sword. And Garnet's summons, once you got Boost were really freakin good. All in all if I had to choose what really helped...it would be something like Antibody or something like that. Those abilities were what really saved my ass, sometimes a boss wouldn't be able to attack me at all if I had certain ones equipped.
Aside from Zidane's Dyne abilities, Steal was a staple to use in the game but as far as the most useful for battles, it was probably Thievery since I abused Steal and I was able to have it do 9999 damage every time and it was the key thing for defeating Ozma as was Freya's Dragon Crest.
Vivi's doomsday, meteor, and flare magic were essential as well. I also found some use in Quina's blue magic like healing wind and magic hammer but they were only minor uses.
Eiko was sought after for her Phoenix summon sometimes since Garnet couldn't learn it and Garnet was useful for her summons, the Ark summon was a devastating attack. It made the Necron fight easier.
Obviously Steiner was useful as well with his sword magic and if you got Excalibur II then Stock Break comes into the picture.
The abilities auto haste, auto reflect, auto life, auto regen, auto protect and shell, were all useful as well. They were key elements to winning some fights.
Hmmmmm....... I think i'd have to say that one of the best abilities in my opinion was Amarant's Throw ability.... as long as you grinded a bunch and bought multiple copies of each weapon you have a lot of options to deal max damage.
The steal ability was great, which was really helpful in the beginning, when you didn't have much Gil, you could get some great items from enemies. Zidane's Dyne ability was also very helpful, when a boss was about to do away with me.
Bouncing flare off reflect is great, but Quina's Frog Drop can be cast thirty times within his current 300MP cap. That means that 30*4,800=144,000 in total, assuming you can just keep him alive long enough, which with his auto-life and auto-regen skills really isn't a challenge.
