Interesting, although I wouldn't trust a release date set by Amazon unless it was backed by something official by SE.

And, I'd guess that those would be the American versions ><

I actually moved this to the FFXIII section, as the page also gives the release date for XIII as December 8th.
 
The site, play.com, often gives release dates for games that have only started undergoing development, when there's no speculation elsewhere. It matches up with other online shops and they periodically postpone to the same date, really. I imagine that the suppliers send out various draught dates to retailers.

I think it's the same story with this.
 
I hate Amazon, purely because they always give out release dates when there's no support or definite date going around. Usually you should add at least 6 months onto anything they say, meaning we could be looking at Summer 2009 for it to release in America.

Though I won't say they're always wrong, because they'd just go a prove me wrong this time :P Wait...maybe I should say they're always wrong to get an earlier release... Gah!
 
It's a fake date, 9/10 gaming stores set fake release dates so that people start pre-ordering which means they get the money earlier. MGS4 has been advertised on Amazon for a year at least.
