Very confused...

I just recently started playing this and was enjoying it very much, the only thing is I'm starting to get the impression that anything of significance is impossible to solo - even stuff which should be simple to do alone (I think), like the quest to allow you to sub a job. Don't get me wrong, my LS has been nothing but helpful with all this stuff, but my problem is that if all I do is stand around while a high-level player goes and gets everything for me, where's the feeling of achievement coming from?

The other thing I am confused about is that all I hear about is how you should be at Valkurm Dunes from level 12ish to party. I've tried this with two different jobs now, and all I ever see is death and disaster. I could earn more exp soloing (although it's pretty tedious), all I've done so far at the dunes is lose exp! I just don't get it....

This game is mostly about being in groups, it is damn near impossible to solo until your level 75...and even then most things things you do involve having to have a group of 18 people. Unless...you choose beastmaster as a job that is.

Also. at level 12 it all depends on the group. The dunes is the best place, but if you can find competent people you might be better off soloing til 15. Dunes go from 12-20.

I can empathise with your situation. I'm still a low level and getting a party together or even just finding one to join is near on impossible. After playing for a few months I've spent the majority of that time going solo. Only when I get to a decent level do I dare to expand my boundaries, but even with this I've had some help from my linkshell.

You'll get there, just keep levelling and you'll be able to achieve more by yourself than you can at the moment.
