In my opinion it's been a great year in the gaming scene. The PC and every console out there apart from the PS3 have had there fair share of great games but what do you class as the best of the year? Of course only games released this year can be counted.

My list

1) Portal - 3 hours of the best gaming I've had all year. Funny and incredibly well made with some fantastic based puzzles. Also with the best ending credits ever it deserves my No1 place. And who doesn't love cake?

2) Team Fortress 2 - Fuck Halo and every other online shooter before now, TF2 beats them all. With almost complete balance between the characters and an art direction that is refreshing in an era where everyone is making the same realistic bland looking titles along with being a complete laugh when everyone is playing well it stands out from the rest.

3) Half-Life 2: Episode 2 - A vast improvement that builds on Episode 1. It may go along the same formula but that along with Valves excellent game design what makes Half-Life great in the first place. That and the last section when taking on multiple Striders and Hunters just makes it more complete for me. Only two real negatives is a lack of new weaponary and the very real possibility that Ep3 won't be out til 2009.

1) Final Fantasy Dirge of Cerberus. OMG graphics, excellent new characters. I like the way Cloud didn't get much camera action :wacky: Also Shelke was my favotite character after Vincent.

2) Need for Speed Carbon. The best cars in the world are in it. More tuning, better graphics etc.

3) Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenchaichi3. Nothing changed much but better story as well as graphics and a few characters from DB AF.

Doubtful about FFVIIDOC, but then again that's someone else's choice..

Can only think of two games at the moment:

1 - FFXII : Best freakin final fantasy ever for me. Seriously. There must have only been 2 characters I hated out of the entire game, which is a vast improvement on earlier titles. Fantastic story, NO TRAVELLING ON GHEY WORLD MAPZ, Graphics, NO RANDOM BATTLEZ - plus much more. Everything I could have wanted :D

2. Pokemon Diamond - brilliant gameplay wise, but storyline wise, tad disappointing.

3. Elite Beat Agents - Crazy CRAZY stuff - animation sequences are hilarious, could have had more songs in it though I reckon. Sound was awesome too, the agents sounded cool ;D

Although I've yet to play many other games, I'll make a list none the less.

1) Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Although I'll play this properly once I get further in the first game, it's SO much better than the first. Although not as difficult at the start, it has so many neat features that make life so much easier than the first game.

2) Bioshock. Being a huge fan of System Shock 2, I was eagerly waiting for this and wasn't let down. One of the best FPS games I've played in years. "Would you kindly".

3) The Organe Box. A simply outstanding package. 5 games for the price of one. Although Half Life might be old, it's still enjoyable. But you get the 2 expansions also. Team Fortress 2 sounds like a lot of fun but I'm not on Live so I have never played it. Last is Portal. Oh my God what an incredible game. Sure it may be short but it's just SO addictive. Hopefully they'll make a full game to use the style as it's just so clever. "The cake is a lie".
