first chapter

A master thief... That was Judas in a nutshell. I know, I know... You've heard the term 'master thief' before... Maybe read it to describe a character in a book like this one that unfolds before you... World renowned, large bounty on their heads... You have heard it all...

However, Judas was a true master thief. He was an unknown, for the mere fact that he had never been caught. He was just another face in the crowd, unblameable for the theft of the crown jewels which took place just minutes ago as he walked the streets of London. And he was unblameable because he left no clues, no traces of his existence... Some even believed the crown jewels were magicked away...

...And Judas was the only one that ever knew any different... Judas walked in the rain a free man, and as far the people in the black market were concerned, he'd likely be turned into a rich man in a matter of days. As the heaven-tears fell upon him, making his long black hair stick together on his scalp as he ran for shelter, down an alleyway amongst the medieval buildings.

He found a door and tried to open it. Finding it locked, he frantically pounded against it, trying like hell to burst it open, until...! The door opened from the inside and he came sprawling forward, face-first, onto the floor. Aching around his chest, he wrapped an arm around himself, feeling the tips of the crown jabbing sharply into his ribs... However... the cube was nowhere to be felt as he stood up on his knees, searching himself for it.

"Hell... He must be a spy from the king..." A voice said, off to the side as he searched for the item he lost. "We should kill him before he can draw a weapon." The voice continued, a long sound of scraping metal following shortly after as Judas quickly searched the floor.

He found the cube just as another voice rang in his ears. "Renard... You are too forward and harsh... Stay your blade... We shall hear him before we cast judgment." Judas stood and another, slightly older man, stood beside him with medium-length brown hair. The man stood there with a slight smile, patting Judas on the shoulder with a hand covered in rough leather. "What's your name, friend...? What are you doing here?"

"I-I..." Judas choked. In the whole of his life, he had never been surrounded by so many people... And he was never much of a talker... However, he found that the current situation called for his response. "I'm Judas... I'm seeking shelter from rain... But I must say that I hate the King as much as you all seem to... So, please... Don't kill me..." He said, clinging to the white cloth shirt of the man who tried to save him from the one called Renard.

The man nodded and smiled. "I am Kiyejer. And we, which you see here... Are the revolution... We shall give rebirth to England." Judas turned to face a man with short, spiky blond hair, who issued a 'pfft...' as he closed the razor blade he held in his right hand.
