Post your works in progress here if you need some help with something, want comments, or just want to share what you're working on.

I am working on this piece which has a resolution four times as great as this preview. Unfortunately, because they're people from real life, they're not all good looking. And all the details will be added later.

Woah Angelus :O That is amazing! Can you name all the people in that sketch? As for me, I have some sketches of stuff that I'm currently working on, but it's going to be awhile before I can get to it with all the cramming and homework I have to do for school. x_x

Sketch of Freya from Chobits (Chii's older sister)

I'll color them eventually :P

Ja, ich kann, wirklich.

From top to bottom, left to right: Newton, Gauss, Archimedes, Cauchy, Euler, Poincare, Riemann, Cantor, Cayley, Hamilton, Eisenstein, Pascal, Galois, Abel, Hilbert, Klein, Leibniz, Descartes, Dirichlet, Fermat, Mobius, Jacob Bernoulli, Johann Bernoulli, Daniel Bernoulli, (all three are related), (Janos) Bolyai, Emmy Noether, Sophie Germain, Euclid and Pythagoras, Laplace (and Legendre below him), Lagrange, Kronecker, Jacobi and Lobachevsky.

It wasn't easy drawing some of them because I only had portraits of them and no photographs, so I wasn't sure if they really looked like that, and made a few tweaks, and some of them were drawn badly. You may recognize a few of them, or none of them at all.

Realism, yay.

It's not very easy to do though. Your mind says you have to shade a part a certain way, and it turns out when you use reference images, it's very different. Another interesting tip I found somewhere--even the smallest change in color can change the entire picture. Subtle changes will help your picture; you just don't notice it until you look at the entire thing.

Yeah I know, it's nuts. I tell you, if I end up getting frustrated on something, be prepared for me to come and bug you about it :P lol This is definitely going to be something new for me to try though. Hopefully it turns out at least halfway decent. Wish me luck!

I will, I will. If you're having problems, you may want to practice on other real life subject matters. Like your husband or kid.

Realism isn't something you excel at overnight.

I can actually use this at the moment :wacky:
Although don't expect anything good because I'm only just starting to learn how to draw >.>

...and ignore that the scanner reflects off the graphite and makes it darker than what it is -__-, although that should be fixed with a photo of the picture when finished =]

Remember! I'm a newbie drawer :gasp:

HAY! WHAR'S THE HED! :wacky: No, I'm only kidding :P You're doing a great job, Ryan! Keep it up ^_^

Well, here's my first try and realism. All I ask is be gentle with the critique. If you feel you must critique me, don't tell me something looks fucked up or weird or awkward without telling me what I can do to fix it, okay? I still have a long way to go before this is done. Like shading around the lips, shading the actual lips, working on the eyes, the hair, the clothes...
*deep breath*
