What are your opinions on whale hunting? I strongly disagree. I don't give a damn if they taste good! They are being killed for pointless reasons, and it has to stop!

Alright then, Super Hippie, you go to Alaska and Japan and tell them to stop hunting whales for food and perfume and candles. Whale hunting is regulated, people keep track of the numbers and we're trying to let their numbers increase.

Okay then, I will! There have been two girls, a I think they are Australian, and they went to fight about it, they were on our side, haven't heard anything else yet.

Where do you come from? In Australia, everyone is against it. The Japanese come to our country and kill our whales, we keep on saying NO!, but they still continue

I live in America where we slaughter cows by the hundreds to make big greasy burgers that will give you bad cholesterol.

And if they're going into your waters to kill whales there ought be something you can do about that. I don't think the Japanese are that dumb anyway, unless it's just normal fishermen.

Hrmm...I highly down the Japanese are sending fleets over there to harvest whales.

My guess? Hippie group propaganda being spread to instigate shit. Seriously, Japan has enough whales of their own, they don't need to go to Aussie. Plus if there were any ships that large going down to Aussie, China and North Korea would be flipping out over it and so would we.

Any movement by Japanese vessels in international waters would be monitored by more than just your hippie group Greenpeace, especially by China and North Korea.

And if you didn't catch it, I'll say it again, the Japanese have plenty enough whales of their own, they have no need to go down to your waters to "harvest" whales. But you can cling to your hippie propaganda if you'd like and pretend the Japanese have some conspiracy to steal all your whales and experiment on them if it makes you happy :monster:

Do you know how stupid you made yourself look.

The Japanese do come do our waters, you Americans just don't watch enough international Television to know whats going on around the world.

Every season when the whales go to Antarctica, the Japanese come into our waters and hunt down our whales. That is the truth, ask any Ozzie.

Where exactly are they hunting them? If that was local waters where they 'harvest' whales, that shouldn't even be happening.

DarkStar, you make threads, then when people question you, you come out with the insults and start the drama. If youre not wiling to let people argue in a debate section, then dont post! Its simple.

Me, Im agaisnt any hunting.

Truthfully to me a whale is just a big fish, I dont really care whether people hunt them or not.

That's why it's so impossible to argue with Darkstar. That and he gets half his facts wrong and won't admit when he's wrong.

Very well said xD

Truth of the matter is, as "mean" or "cruel" as it may be, they're just whales and there are lots more important things to worry about. A few species of whales being hunted isn't going to drastically affect the world.

Ermm, excuse me? So what is your problem with America? In the past few debates you have insulted America quite a few times. Did I forget to mention that your ancestors were British convicts? First off, this subject wouldn't be important enough to air on some stations. Also if it were to air on some stations it will be a brief coverage. Second off, most American cable companies don't have access to international stations. Even if they do most Americans probably cannot afford it.

You also ignored the fact that VR pointed out that the Japanese do not hunt whales. (He posted a link in shoutbox I believe.)

Other than I am against hunting endangered species. I am somewhat against hunting for a sport as well.

I'd have to disagree. :wacky:
It is going to drastically alter the world because whales are a big part of the sea ecosystem. Every part makes up the whole and the world will have to change if one of the parts is destroyed or done away with. Sorry VR, but I just can't stand it when someone hints that other living things are likened to something insignificant. >.<

Seriously dude, there were so many instances where I could have ripped on Aussie for being a dumping ground for British cons, but I try to argue more civilly than that. You, on the other hand, insulted America (not that I particularly mind if someone insults America, it's just a very immature way to argue with someone).

If you want to argue with people, keep insults out and make legitimate arguments that people won't laugh at and pick apart for being contradictory and nonsensical.

Oh, well my bad Jeremiah. Still though, even if it is important, I'm sure there are more pressing matters than whaling.

So, I was reading my university level Marine Biology textbook (published in 2006) and happened upon this sentence:

"People once used the energy contained in [whale's] blubber by burning oil made from it for light and heat. Most industrial whaling has ceased but so-called traditional whaling, such as that undertaken by these Alaskan Inuit, continues legally in some places."

You are several decades too late to take up the whole "STOP KILLING THE WHALES" cause, dude. ;P

I think the hunting is alright so long as there are more whale births and survival than whale deaths and I have no problem with the Natives going out to hunt the whales. Its not like they kill huge numbers at once.

I certainly hope they are not going after blue whales. Those poor things have a difficult enough time.
