Really made me think yesterday.

My brother is in the army, he's signed off so will be out soon. Because of this, he wasn't sent to Afganistan with the rest of the lads he was with, because the tour would've ended long after he was due to leave.

He text yesterday and said one the lads he would've been going with had been killed.

It really could've been my brother had he actually have gone. Pretty scary thought.

Lord knows what it's done to the lad's family.

Well, war is about killing...

That isn't to say I'm not concerned for the people in war, just the opposite: I know people that entered the military and I'm definitely concerned for their welfare.

For example: When I was little, a kid and his adopted family moved in across the street. He'd always been a crazy energetic kid, anyway he and my brothers and I (as well as a few other kids) would play all day long.

Anyway, he recently enlisted in the Marines and was sent off to war. However, his troupe was assigned to the wrong location and he was placed in the front lines. His troupe was ambushed.
Despite being outnumbered they still won with minimal casualties, but the experience really shook him up. It was the first time he'd ever had to kill another human being.

Personally, I think we should just pull out. I haven't heard of anything beneficial happening at war in a long time.

Agreed.

I'm against the war but behind the troops.

It makes me laugh how the government will use the tactic of "get behind our forces" when people demonstrate against the war. Practically everyone I know is the same as me, support the troops but not in favour of the war. We don't need a government telling us we should be behind them as a way of getting out of people's complaints against the war.
