I think games like Left 4 Dead and Resident Evil 5 set a new standard with their innovations in terms of teamwork and cooperation. That being said, do you like playing games that require you and a friend to work out strategies or do you prefer to go it alone?

I'd personally play more survival-horror if all games in that genre included co-op play. It's so much more fun to play a game with someone screaming at you and basically letting you know you're not alone.

Co-op is an interesting thing, IMO. I think it is very hard for game developers to add functional, deep, and rewarding co-op experiences while also providing a decent single player game that non-online players can enjoy. I actually think one of the games that does this best is Resistance 2. In single player, your guy is basically a bit of a walking tank. In co-op, which really plays with a team, each person is essential to survival. It is somewhat similar to Left 4 Dead where each person really plays an important roll in the joint experience and no one can wander off without dooming the entire team.

I totally agree. I dont know how many times I have sat completely alone playing some survival horror game, completely freaked out wishing I could play it with someone. I mean, I really dont mind playing a game by myself. It just gets a little boring, and having a friend there to not only help, but to be there for all the good parts is something that I like. I hope they start making games like this, or at least with the ability to play like this. :D

Depends on the game really, Resident Evil isn't something that I usually associate with having a co-op mode since its a Survival Horror game. Having a second player to back you back sorta takes something away from that. It's works with Left 4 Dead since it was built specifically for co-op, you can't go Rambo in that game and win most of the time.

Games with a co-op mode are usually welcome for me, it helps adding more playtime with some games like shooters that you can do with either one or two people like Halo and Perfect Dark (older game I know but can't think of newer games at the moment) and for some it just makes the game way better with fighters like Streets of Rage and Shooters like Alien Hominid.

I would like to see some more games in the L4D mould though where teamwork comes first above all else, it is one of the few games that actually successfully pulls it off.

I am a big Co-Op fan, love playing with a friend. I remember playing Toe jam and Earl on the Genesis with a friend. Co-Op adds another dimension. Halo Co-op was amazing too
