I've just been watching some ending videos on YouTube of people leaving FFXI (wish I had made one... but I don't think I'm missed.)
I think it would be a great shame when, when the day comes, the last Final Fantasy would just be another game that happens to be the last one.
I think it should be a conscious conclusion, with references to the old games (fighting the final bosses again?) original but enhanced music, a storyline and ending everyone can understand and basically Square Enix should put everything they have into it.
It would be sad if Final Fantasy were to go without a bang, wouldn't it?

Your thoughts?

The final Final Fantasy definitely should go out with a bang, yeah! :D
I mean, it would be awesome to relive everything but with a different feel or something. Yeah, a few tweaks to the orchestration too would be nice.

But a combined game, I totally would look to it if ever they made it.
And I agree with the conclusion part, they really should tie it up, if ever they do, of course.

Thanks, this got me dreaming. :P

Definitely that the "Final" Final Fantasy has to go out with some impact whenever that will be.

It would be great for Nobuo Uematsu to come back for one last Final Fantasy as I think he only composes the main theme's now.

I would also like it to be in medieval times with lots of references to previous Final Fantasy games. Sort of like FFIX but instead of being a tribute to the older version more of a tribute to all the main Final Fantasy series.

Some old themes coming back and have some sceneries or boss battles that make you reminisce about the previous games.

Basically, I would like the "Final" Final Fantasy to be a game that all through out the game and I say to myself "That's a reference to (whatever) from (Game)". I know FF's already do that but I would like the Final one to be a major throw back to all FF games throughout. Even just naming a bunch of NPC's after some famous FF characters. And of course, since I would want it to make a huge impact, I would must have a good story, characters etc. :D

I'm talking like it's happening. :P

Basically a massive FF throwback (but like FFIX, being its own game aswell). I would also love it if they ended it with a cliff hanger about Final Fantasy and if/how the are related. In a way, I would actually like FF to end soon and hope they do make a game like this but in another way, I don't as I would like FF to continue. :P

This thread will keep me up thinking about it now.

Well, if and when that day comes, my only wish would be that the final FF be the combined talents of all the past developers. Of course, God willing they should still be around.

If there were to be a 'Final' fantasy that was for certain the last one I would want it to feel like the last one without it feeling like the last one. Do you know what I mean? In other words, i want it to feel like a conclusion without it feeling gimmicky. Like, I wouldn't like it if they had a bunch of stuff from the other games. I think it should remain as original as it can without straying too far.

I do agree with GA that it should go back to its roots. The only problem with that is that it would be pretty hard to assemble some of the original makers of the game depending on how many years it will be till such a game is made.

I also think that if they do make such a game, then they maybe should not anounce that it is the last. This is because such an anouncement may over hype the game and raise the player's expectations too high.
