Rarely any of the large gaming developers/publishers have a good reputation these days, but SQEnix gets an award for almost universal derision when it comes to the gaming press and the FF fanbase (Western fans at least, I have no idea how the climate in Asia is). For the past five or so years, the XIII saga has been the only mainline console FF to release, and there's been no mention of Versus XIII. Type-0 is still Japan-only, XIV met a terrible reception and is being overhauled delaying its console release, and a sequel of XIII was released with another on the way. Is it safe for me to assume the lack of any main FF's to look forward to on PS3/360 besides XIII and the amount of time that has passed plays a large part in the hate for the company?
With XII, the fanbase was split, but those who didn't like it had something to look forward to in the next FF at the time. With XIII and its two sequels, there is no such title to look forward to so there's more restlessness.
