okay, this is the first story I've ever written, so I know it's not gonna be great, and I haven't written anything on it in some time, but I decided I might as well post it to get feedback. So here's the prologue and first chapter and depending on the feedback I'll post more. tell me what you think. thanks.

Prologue

“It has begun, gentleman,” said a crackly old voice. A long table sat in a pitch-black room. Around a dozen black-cloaked men sat in chairs around the table, independent lights shining over each one individually. None of their faces could be seen from behind the shadow of the cloaks. They all seemed focused on the center of the table.

They were all staring at a hologram sitting a foot above the table. It seemed to be the map of the world. Several red dots appeared on the green map. There was only one land mass in the world, and the dots were seemed to be scattered randomly.

“So these what we plan to eliminate?” a fairly young voice said.

“Yes. They are. These are the targets,” the old voice spoke again.

“Well how do you suggest we dispose of them?” a voice that seemed to be in his mid-30s spoke.

“Mr. 7, we have an entire military force at our disposal. We have a legion and country behind us. I believe we can take care of a few freaks.”

The men at the table talked amongst themselves in low tones. They were giving their comments about the situation and what to do about it. Some suggestions were to gather them all up in one place and kill them quickly. Others thought of assassinating each one individually and quietly.

The man at the end of the table with the old voice chuckled under his cloak. His plans were coming together. Soon, he would have the Corrupted out of the way and he’ll be able to take over the world completely.

Chapter 1 – Summer

The year was 3014. The planet was Xylskaer. The one continent on the huge planet covered about 50% of the world. It had always been like that. Humans left to find a new planet long ago, and they found this. They took a lot of their architectural ideas with them.
The town was known as Syklar in the country of Lethiar. It had a Japanese feel to it. The schools and most of the shopping districts had a more modern feel but the houses seemed more old style. The whole country was like this, except for major cities that were very modernized, even with some flying ships.

Right now, the country was at peace. The economy was prospering, there was no poverty or homelessness, everyone was at least middle-class, everything was fine. But the military was always ready incase their neighboring countries decided to change the peace. They were at war for 20 years until a treaty came into play and only recently the countries were very anxious.

But that was nothing to worry about right now for the students of Syklar High. School finally got out for summer and everyone was ready for their summer plans and to just relax for the next few months.

However, for a few select students, their lives would be changed forever. They didn’t know it yet, but they were very special, and soon they would realize that they would have to fight for their lives.

A group of teenagers were walking down a tiled pathway in the local park. They had finally gotten out of school for good. Some of them were planning on going to college, some had other plans. But they weren’t concerned about that. Even though they should start work soon, they had a few months to spend for summer.

“So what are you doing for your summer, Lex?” said a blonde haired boy at the age of 18. He had very broad shoulders and had a very big build. His blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight and he had the face of an angel. Girls of several age groups stared at him as he walked by, but he seemed focused on one of the girls in the group he was walking with.

“I’m not really sure. What about you, Nathan?” a slender girl replied. She was also 18. The girl had a beautiful face and figure. Her brown hair was a stunning color that went great with her hazel eyes and guys had the same reaction on her as the girls had on Nathan.

“Me and a few buddies were planning on hitting the beach this weekend. You wanna come with us? You can bring some friends you want.” It was obvious that he was trying to flirt with her. But she didn’t seem to show much interest in him. And even though Nathan knew this, he was persistent. He wanted Lex.

“Hmmmm…Will that kid from Chemistry that sits in the back be there? He seems like he could use a little sun and friends. It’d be nice to bring him along.”

“You mean that Zero kid? I don’t know. I could ask him…Now that I think of it, what kind of name is Zero? Did his parents think that was a cool name or something? It just makes him sound like an idiot…Oof!” Nathan stepped back two steps after running into someone.
“Sorry. That was my ba-.” His sentence got cut off as he looked up at who he ran into. His jaw trembled slightly in minor terror at who it was. It was Zero. He stood a good two inches above him but wasn’t nearly as bulky. However, people still feared him for obvious reasons. He had a scary presence about him, and he could beat nearly everyone in the school in a fight.

He had jet black hair brushed down over his unnatural red eyes. His skin was so pale it almost glistened in the sunlight, for what little skin could be seen. His black hoodie covered most of his face and his hands were shoved in his pockets. He looked down at Nathan with blank eyes before turning around to walk towards a large, almost completely unoccupied apartment complex.

Nathan was stunned for a moment. He hadn’t expected for Zero to be right in front of him. When did he get there, he thought. It must have been when he was talking to Lex; she was so pretty he lost his focus on where he was walking. But he quickly got his composure and looked around for Zero.

Zero was already to the apartments when Nathan spotted him. He thought over his options quickly and decided he should invite him. He looked at his friends and motioned for them to follow him.

“Come on. Let’s catch up with him. I want to know what his deal is and bring him along to the beach.” The rest of the group nodded and they all started running to the apartments to find him. He seemed to be heading to the fourth out of about six floors. They saw which door he went in and ran up the stairs to his room. When Nathan opened the door a knife flew in front of his face from the kitchen to the left and pierced into the wall.

Zero was standing there, anger clearly in his eyes. He didn’t have his hoodie anymore. His right arm seemed to be trembling slightly for some odd reason. Nathan gulped in fear and the rest of the group was just as surprised as he was.

“What are you doing here?” said Zero. He was furious that people were in his home. No one had ever been there before, except for the rare occasion of government employees to see how he was living. “Well?”

“W-w-we c-came to see i-if you wanted t-to come to the b-b-beach with us this weekend.” Nathan stuttered. He was still in shock from the knife and the fact that he was actually in Zero’s home. This was a chance for them to learn about him. That is, if they don’t die first.

Zero growled and motioned for them to follow him. He led them to the living room of an apartment that was surprisingly very nice for a run-down complex. The furniture and style was very warm. He directed them to sit down on the couch and he relaxed in a very padded chair. “The beach?”

Nathan nodded as the others sat on the couch, trying to control themselves as they awaited his answer. “Yes…the beach…is that alright with you?” He tried to speak contently but he was still very frightened of Zero and it showed.

Nathan had seen Zero scare someone so badly that they had to leave town. What’s worse, Zero could fight. Good. A group of the thick-headed jocks tried to gang up on him once, but to little avail. Zero took each one of them out with his bare hands; and all at once too.
Zero thought on Nathan’s proposal, tapping his fingers on the arms of his chair. He had never been invited to anything in a very long time and he wondered how it would turn out. It concerned him of what everyone else would think, and the purposes of this invitation.

“Alright. I’ll go.”

“Seriously?” Nathan and the others were all stunned by his answer. They had never thought that he would actually come along. But he still nodded and agreed to it. Lex had smiled slightly but hid it carefully. “Well then…meet us there around ten or eleven a.m. We’ll be there.” Zero nodded again. Nobody knew what to do so they just said their goodbyes and left. Lex was the last to leave as she took one last look back at Zero before exiting with the rest of the group.

“I can’t believe he said yes.” Said a boy with medium-length brown hair and green eyes. He had an average build but he was the same height as Nathan. His name was Zack.

“I know…I couldn’t believe it when I heard it.” A petite blonde girl with fairly long hair and blue eyes spoke. He had a small form but was very cute, so she still got a lot of looks from boys. Her name was Zoe.

“Well we’ll see how it turns out,” Nathan said, “but now he’s coming along to the beach. I’ll see you all then. I have to go. Later.” After he left everyone else started to disperse, each going to their respective homes until the weekend that waited them.
