The backstory of Dissidia, as well as the ending, imply that it's tied to the backstory of FF1. What we're not sure is how. Is it a prequel? A sequel? A midquel? Is it between timelines? All in one timeline? Was Garland aware of his nature when he became a Knight of Cornelia? What is the significance of WoL's crystal?
