Ok, so I finished Giruvegan and got ten Espers. I'm on a hiatus from the main storyline so I can grind up to lvl 99 and farm for some ultimate equipment. I want to grind as quickly as possible and this is the best place to do it. But for that I need to use Embroidered Tippets. I survive the Secret Areas with somewhat relative ease, but that's because I've got Bubble Belts equipped on two characters and a Ribbon on another. I'm pretty sure that if I took those accesories and equipped the Tippets I would be wiped out. So my question is this: what is an effective gambit and equipment setup for this area that would allow me to survive without the extra help from those items and especially would be helpful to chain Abysteels, which are tough?

My current setup looks like this

Main party: Balthier -Golden Skullcap
-Maximillian
-Ribbon
-Excalibur
Ashe and Basch have the same equipment, except Basch is using the Zodiac Spear and Ashe has the Tournesol and they both have Bubble Belts equipped. They're lvl 78

They have the same Gambits: 1) Ally any- Phoenix Down
2) Ally any- Remedy
3) Ally HP less than 50% - Curaja
4) Foe nearest visible- Attack
I cast Protectga manually when entering a new area.

Sorry for this long post, but any help would be appreciated.

I heard some people add a gambit to Immobilize enemies and then they hit them with bows or guns.

You silly fool, the fastest way to grind is the Negalmuur auto-level trick. I'll link you since it's too much for me to type out:

Uh, one note though. In the gambit setup, they left out something important in the guide. Be sure to toss in a gambit on your allies for using Remedy (make sure it's level 3 on the license grid) on the party leader, and make sure it's a high priority. This will take care of the Doom status. Don't bother having the allies use it on each other, it wastes remedies. I recommend getting 99 remedies while you're at it. While esuna can take care of Doom (I think...been a while since I played), you run the risk of running out of MP.

Stick to that guide and remember to toss in the remedy gambit and it's perfectly safe to leave the game on overnight. 48 hours later (with Tippets on everyone) and you should have them increased by about 40-some levels, then you can safely wander about the Henne Mines looking for the Zodiac Spear.

Foe: Nearest Visible? Ugh, I hate that one. Why not have all 3 characters attack whoever you are attacking? It allows you to exercise further control over your party, since you can see them all the time, and the enemy will go down faster.

As for your Ally:Any - Remedy, why not have Ally:status Confuse/Doom - Remedy? It saves you the bother of wasting your remedies for pointless statuses like Poison which can be healed manually using esuna.

For your equipment setup, Have all three characters wear Maximilians and Magepower Shishaks. Weapons-wise, a Masamune (Or two), Excalibur > Tournesol (since alot of the enemies down here are weak to the Holy element.)
