To start off; you're pitting Street Fighter alone against SNK, the company. SNK have rather a lot of 2D fighting games, to have Street Fighter alone face off against them is a bit of a mismatch. Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike is probably the pinnacle of the Street Fighter series, I can think of about 4 SNK games off the top of my head which can match that: King Of Fighters XI, Last Blade 2, Fatal Fury: Real Bout 2 and Garou: Mark Of The Wolves.
In short, if it's SNK against Street Fighter then SNK wins for me, but if you make it, say, King Of Fighters vs. Street Fighter then it's a more even contest, but King Of Fighters would win it for me.

Always had more of a soft spot for the Street Fighter series. Apart for the 3D games of course.

I have always been a fan of Street Fighter. Don't know why. There weren't that many characters, and the moves hardly changed, but IMO it will always be the best. (Other than Mortal Kombat.)
