As for the drawing system, I didn't find it too bothersome. I would just put the enemy to sleep and get Squall to draw enough magic for every one since he would usually draw at least 8 without fail.

You'd still have to distribute them all every time you got to 100 though so you might as well just have everyone draw. That way you'd have to do fewer battles to stock up.

I don't think I've ever drawn from enemies (other than for GFs) once I've gotten past the first little bit of the game though, usually I'd get all my magic strictly from refining items and the like.
