for those that haven't played FFX-2, vegnagun is the final boss, there's a spoiler tag on the thread, so don't flam me, but

sin has his mega graviation attack that ends the game if you get hit by it
penance has his judgment day that is end game if you get hit by it
veganagun has his giant cannon that is end game when shuyin finishes playing

so if these three attacks can end the game instantly if you get hit by them,
first which one is stronger
second why didn't they just use them instantly
third all of them are feared, couldn't they just use them to end the world

and i know if they did, there wouldn't be a game, but still nice to think about

Okay, so who/what exactly is "Penance"?

I'm pretty sure it is from FFX, but i never actually encountered it... Probably a bunch of other things that you have to do to get to it... so what exactly might those be?

Penance is a optional boss in some versions of FF10. I've never got in a fight with him cause I just own the US version.

Okay to answer the question Sin is there just to ruin advaced civilitation. When too many people gather to if machina is used a lot. So I scratch him off.

Penance I know nothing of but Vegnagun is powerful enough to defeat Sin and destroy the world. So if not penance I say Vegnagun.

1) Vegnagun... it can destroy the whole world with just one shot, lol. Sin just swam about... I'm on the fence if it's actually because of machina, 'cause I remember Jecht saying that he had no control, and what little control he did have, he always ended up making his way to Tidus so... xD
2) If I remember correctly, during the last fight of X-2, Shuyin is preparing Vegnagun to attack... not so sure on that. Penance isn't capable of THAT much destruction, I'm sure Penance was just a last resort to kill Tidus and the gang, having succeeded against the Dark Aeons. (<-- Which to my knowledge was only available in the EU versions?) Whereas Sin's 'big attack' charged up like an overdrive, so, yea... both were 'timed' battles, sort of... xD
3) Didn't really understand that but you seemed to answer that anyways, so... haha.

These are the answers I think are correct, but this is just some stuff I've gained from playing the games so don't take my word as absolute truth.

Sin was actually the product of a disaster that happened in Zanarkand 1000 years before most of the events in the game have taken place (the cause was actually all of the pirefly's coming together to make the world largest feind hence Sin). This 'Disaster' is explained by Sin coming back to get Tidus and destroying the city. As far as I know this is just the 'dream of the fayth' version of ancient Zanarkand. Which is how a time paradox is avoided. The real disaster is never actally explained. (please note this is all just interpretation and speculation but what little fact there is here is taken from the game and especially the long winded parts were you have to sit for five hours reading a lot of text or listening to people talk, particularly in bevelle)

As was said earlier Vegnagun was a giant machina that was controller by Shuyin, so he had to be controlled/charged before his mighty cannon o' doom could be fired. Which would explain the delay.

Finally as far as I can recall penance didn't want to destroy the world but he was the physical embodiment of humanities desire to repent or atone for their sins (can you see where the link is?) As such he was testing the stronges people in spira to see if they are truly willing to give up everything for the sake of repenting. Another explanation is that penance actually means: self inflicted suffering to attempt to atone for past mistakes.

wow... I can go on for a long time can't I 0_0...
p.s. FFX and Auron rule the school :P

Sin is a being that was created by a summoner, and therefore has limits. He can be defeated once and for all, although it's a difficult process. He's really powerful but has biological limits. It would also seem that he can't reproduce, even though he leaves spawn. For him to be Vegnagun he would need to be able to reproduce.

Vegnagun is a machine, which means he's pratically immortal. With the plans, or even pieces of him, he can be rebulit, which makes him stronger than the once lived Sin. If Sin was capable of something like this, then he would be stronger.

At least, that's my opinion on the matter.
