What do you think about this horror series?? Do you prefer it more than RE or not?

I played this game from the first part till the third...My fav part is the third because the story is completing the first part with great graphics, sounds and characters...It's just awesome...I missed playing the 4th part, but I'll to buy one because I think it's really something too...
 
What really fascinates me is the story behind the game. It's like you're playing into a real nightmare where nothing is impossible. According to trivia, Silent Hill has some bases from the horror movie Jacob's Ladder in which Purgatory plays a great theme. It's like there is a Heaven and a Hell, and one in between. That is Silent Hill.
 
I've never played it myself, but I've watched a friend of mine play through all four of them. I never realized how hard and unforgiving survival horror games are!

I think the best one was probably Silent Hill 3, but they were all good. The scariest part for me was the carousel in Silent Hill 3. *shivers*
 
I've never played it, but my friends absolutely love it. I'm just not too big into horror stuff....still scares me, lol.
 
I love the Silent Hill series but I haven't played any of the games for quite a while now. I finished 1 and 2, but got tired of 3 before I reached the end. Reviews of the 4th put me off buying it.
 
I totally love the SH series, its always had things that will make your look at it and scratch your head trying to figure out why its even there.. I really enjoyed the SH series, I completed SH1 and Just beat SHII and near to the end of SHIII and I've havent even picked up the Room yet
 
I'm a part of the of the silent hill community, the UK one (google silent hill forum) and am in love with Silent Hill. If I'm not the biggest SH nut in the world, I don't know who the heck is.

I've played each game atleast over 100 times each, have gotten all the endings except UFO (I don't like aliens), and have watched the film 25 times and counting.

I could be a Silent Hill scholar if I wanted to, the theories behind the game are so engrossing...

Ahem. That aside, Silent Hill is greater than RE. :) By far.
 
Silent hill is one of those games that makes you start cutting yourself....

to me silent hill it far more "scary"...i mean i played RE when i was 6 or 7 and it scared the crap out of me....along with "D" if anyone has played it...but RE...especially 4 sticks out for me becuase of its gameplay not because of its scare factor...now silent hill 2 was my favorite scare my pants off game
 
i havent played it because i am too scared.
i watched the movie though and i prefer watching it because i know what is going to happen but the game is very random, ew
i like it though.
 
ive played and completed every one of them and i love the seris
my fav has to be sh1 cause of the difficulty and storyline (although sh2 has the best storyline)
 
I love Silent Hill! Although I do prefer Resident Evil, but thats simply becuase I have grown up far longer playing it rather than Silent Hill. My fave game has to be 1 and 2, they are both so creepy!
 
I didn't play all of them...only the second one and I plain loved it. I saw a box set in one of the stores here with the first 3 games and I'm planning to buy it soon.

But damn...those Pyramid Heads are so nasty! And the whole thing in the hospital just freaked me out :P
 
Resident Evil is more of a horror-action game...Silent Hill is more a horror-survival one. That's the whole difference. There's not much action in Silent Hill, because the horror aspect is one of psychological level. It gets to your brain and when you think about it, you get the creeps. It's not like (well exception of some things) a zombie comes out of the wall or anything.

In Silent Hill it's more like:

You enter a room, you see a sink and blood is pouring out. You make it stop, you turn around and it starts again. You walk to the door and it's closed and you just know you are screwed....something like that.
 
It was my first survival horror game. I have played all of them, i really like it.
I think the original is the classic, the second is the one i like the most, 3 was short and 4 story was something weird
 
Its a good series for the horror genre, 2 and 3 are my favs. I didnt play 4, but I didnt like the look of it, just looked rubbish compared to the other installements. Got the OSTs and the movie, PYRAMID HEAD, YAY! And I shall be getting the PSP verison ^^
 
Great games, great movie, weird creatures with an friggin' awesome story and a scarey F'd up girl...

Whats not to love?
