I was wondering if any of you out there are 'true' fans of this great anime series. I know it's pretty 'old', but it truly was one of the greatest ones in terms of storyline, and graphics, and character design.
Not to mention its great popularity.

So, any fans?:D

I never saw Samurai X outside of the feature movie, but if Samurai X is the same as Rurouni Kenshin, then I thoroughly enjoyed the show. One of my favorites. =D

You mean the OVAs or the tv show? I loved both of them

Both of course.

Well, I thought they were one and the same. Well back in Asia they were anyway. I've only ever seen parts of the movie as I love the TV shows more. The characters were actually characters and I usually relate to them.
*buys double-edged sword*

I used to hate myself for not having the X-scar.:P

I saw Rurouni Kenshin first, I saw like 10-15 episodes of it and thought it was awesome. I heard about the Samurai X movie from one of the councellors at the Y I use to have to go to (lame, but another story).

I bought the Samurai X movie and have seen it about 3 times now. I really love the artwork that he used. (what was his name again? Nobuo something?).

I dunno.
All I know is that that was the greatest samurai anime ever created.
Samurai Champloo comes close....not.
Well, not quite.

An old friend of mine had some episodes on disc, and he showed me a few. Quite the impressive anime I must say.

Impressive?! Blasphemy!!:P

It's a legend, I should say.
You, my friend, need to watch the whole series.

I have one of the Samurai X movies but saddly it's the last one. :( It's still good though, but I hear the first movie had more action in it.

I saw the movie
where you see how he gets his X scar
and I watched the anima
with that ugly mummy guy the one that was burned
thus the anime stop after he died or are there more episodes

I own the whole thing and enjoy it thoroughly. The music is my favourite aspect as my favourite instrument is the Shakuhachi and it makes an appearance every now and then. The third Season is a little 'out there' and the initial two OVAs are excellent. The actual movie is decent but far below the bar that the first two OVAs set.

The firefly scene was brilliant.
Even though it was more emotional than anything else....but then again, everything in that series was brilliant...

Yay! Samurai X! =D

As far as art goes I prefer Samurai Champloo. Hear me out. Too often in anime (and older cartoons) the artists take these terrible short cuts (for honest reason I'll admit) and you end up with these half decent frames with misproportions all over. And then out of no where, usually during some major scene, the art gets vamped. Specifically the firefly scene. That's all fine I suppose but I'd prefer a constant standard -- something Samurai Champloo had.

Well yeah, the graphics on Champloo are technically superior, so yeah, I agree with that.
There are some times that Samurai X graphics-wise can get a bit....out of base. And sometimes it's inconsistent, or as you said 'misproportioned'.
Yes, most older animes have that quality.

I love both shows by the way. Anything with samurai/ninja, I'm game. =D

I saw the episodes until the knights part on t.v!

My favorite saga was the Shishio Makoto saga i loved all of the battles in it!

My personal favorite character is Sanosuki:)

I haven't seen the first one but I've seen Kenshin for sure. I've seen most of the ep. on that anime; I don't like Koaru though. [How ever you spell her name? Sorry if I mispelled it..]

Yarly. :monster:
That German knight episode was just too intense, Jimmy.
I mean, it took 5 whole episodes to complete it, though I still think the battle was way too biased -- I mean, a knight on horseback versus a lowly samurai?!
It was good that Kenshin beat him though...as usual. ^_^
