Has anybody read any of these books? They are written by Kevin J. Anderson. It takes place at least several hundred years in the future where we have spread ourselves across the galaxy with the help of the friendly aliens the Ilidrians. Without spoiling to much it is about a conflict that starts with the igniting a gas giant into a sun using something called The Killkiss Torch.
They are really good books, I got to the last one today and I really recommend them to anybody who enjoys a good sci-fi.
