Question of the day: do you think Final Fantasy XIV will be roleplaying friendly?

I have little to no experience with FFXI, but I do have a long history with other MMOs as one of those salty veteran roleplayer types. Google searches have painted a bleak impression when it comes to the current roleplaying community in FFXI, and unlike all the other MMOs I've fanboy'd over pre-launch, this one hasn't really been picked up by a larger alliance of roleplayers yet. This concerns me, as I am a starry-eyed mess of hope and wonder when it comes to the roleplaying potenial this game could ( will? ) have.

Is FFXI all that roleplayer friendly? Does it allow custom emotes, sitting, walk toggle, and so forth? I figure the roleplaying model currently in place with FFXI will be carried over to FFXIV, but this is a digression.

Anyways, are there any opinions out there on this subject? I'd love to hear them before I get married to the notion of switching subscriptions just to strike up a guild of cutthroats and human supremists in a final fantasy world.

you know, I can't argue with whether IV would be good as the same kind of game that XI was but what I would have to say is that square enix would have to do leagues better in the creation and execution of IV as a MMORPG. Eleven failed in many ways and if there was ever a hope for another FF game reaching MMO status then major overhauls would need to happen.
