I never could make up my mind... The only constant in my party was Cloud, the problem with that was by the time Cloud was level 77 everyone else was level 44 anyway, I found Red to be a great fighter, I definitely used him a lot, hes got great magic power, and I also found that i could equip him with curative materia and he would work great as a "white mage" of sorts when HP got low, I'm not sure if anyone else tried this, I'd be curious to find out.

I didn't think it was even possible to create that much of a gap in character levels...did you play with only Cloud and everyone else KO'd?

Until I discovered that a party of Cloud, Tifa and Barret was the most efficient, I always made use of Nanaki whenever I could. I found it interesting to have such a character in your party, being able to do so much damage, and having excellent limit breaks to seal the deal. He wasn't one of those characters who you could say was imperative but he still added a nice flavour to the story and I like to reward that.
