I figure a collective reference to peoples best AP spots, enemy skill as early as possible spot, money spots and stolen items would favor the board. Certainly the FAQs don't know EVERYTHING.. I'm sure any experienced FF player has proved that.
Give a little favorite tips in your game, for other peoples games.
I'll edit my own post as I think of them, you do the same.
Gain AP
Bal Castle, bottom line, if you wonder the left side of the room (when its sealed and after) there seems to be an increased rate of Statue enemies in groups of 5.. this gives you 8 AP.. not bad for ANY point in the game. You can clean these guys out w/ the enemy skill Lv. 5 Death. Even if its only 2 Statue enemies, they give you 4 AP. Not bad for a few seconds of your time. In my opinion given how little time it takes to kill them w/ this enemy skill, this is the pinnicle of AP gaining areas. AP gaining potiental isnt always who has the most, its how fast you can beat them. This place is consistent, its always Statue enemies, and they always fall to Lv. 5 Death. This can be applied to world map 2 and 3. Make a point to get Lv. 5 Death. I believe the world 1 ancient library has it? I forget.
My "Get Out Of A Jam" List
For me, as a rule, I make everyone able to learn how to "Equip Shields" (Knight job). I can't count how many times my magic users have been saved by an evaded attack thanks to a simple addition of a shield in their ability list. A most necessary skill for all 4 characters, even out of magic jobs. You might seek out upping AP of non-magic jobs, that can't do sheilds. Now if you got this.. you can.
EVADE HITS!
Enemy skills rank in a close 2nd for me, and also rank as the best combined spell list in the game, for a few reasons. You dont need money to get them, you dont need to wait too long to get a lot of them and they save your butt a lot. My advice, in the age of online, learn your list of enemy skills and harass enemies who own them ASAP.
Ones to key in on are: White Wind, Lv. 5 Death, MightGrd (Big Guard), DeathClaw, Aero spells (3 of them), Lv. 3 Flare, Guard Off, MoonFlute, AquaRake (excuse my spell names, look them up. I use an old translation).
Also, physical attacks can be the pinnicle of the win. I make it a rule to have at least a couple people able to do the following: Double Grip, Equip Swords, Equip Katanas, Two Handed.
Defense wise I will reiterate, learn to Equip Shields, as a secondary, Equip Armor.. great for the most weak players who cannot use it yet still evade well enough (Ninja and Monk).
Items.. I have little to say cept don't be lazy, look for them. Aside from looking, know your steal. A good thief is a thief with all his tools. Use Thief knife (auto steal), thief glove w/ a thief job. If you can jump this job between players (as its mastered) through your game.. you will find some interesting stuff on the way as he attacks. Im sitting on some nice additional equipment. Wish I logged who I got it from.
Know that steal IS valuable though.. exploit all your classes uses as you use them.
