The PSN (PlayStation Network) allows the download of PS1 games to your PS3 (for a price,) where you can play them or copy them to your PSP to play on that.

So far the list is limited but it has some real classics available. The original Crash Bandicoot the first Wipeout game and others including Mortal Kombat 2 and Populous the Beginning.

So far I myself have Populous and Jumping Flash.

Populous is the original God Sim/ RTS. Playing as a tribe of humans under a Shaman you must conquer worlds gathering magic powers and new technology for your shaman's accession to godhood. Quite difficult on later levels but still a very fun game with some excellent music.

Jumping Flash is a very unique platform game where you play a giant robotic rabbit who is able to jump very high around some amazing 3D levels while gathering items and killing enemies, a tad cutsie perhaps but big fun.

I actually wasn't aware that you could download PS1 games through the Playstation Network.

Might have to check that out.

Just go to the PS Store and check the games section. There is a few options the classic one having the better selection.

Of course, you can just install custom firmware onto your PSP and play 99% of all PS1 Games. There are many methods of obtaining the firmware, but installing it is another thing. It all depends what your current firmware is.

As for PS3, well why not play your PS1 games on a PS1 or 2?

hehe some of us actually have respect for the law Gabranth.

Plus hacking a PSP is a very risky thing to do.

I suppose. Installing the custom firmware itself isn't illegal. But downloading from free sites IS. There are official sites which have PS1 games in EBOOT format which are legal, but of course aren't approved of by Sony. So if you want to repair you PSP for whatever reason, you won't be able to do it though means of sony.

Hacking your PSP is only risky if you don't take the precautions. As I said before, it all depends on your firmware.

Actually I think hacking is itself illegal I think it says so when ever you update your firmware in the terms and conditions.

Having or downloading an EBOOT file is only legal if you actually own a copy of that game as you are legally allowed to make back ups but thats it.
