Omega

I'd have said a Summoner is a monk or nun.

I disagree, in FFX I think a monk would be one of the old and bald blokes wearing robes with the symbol of Yevon adorned on them that you usually see in temples, I don't think THEY are Summoners

Also, before becoming Braska's Guardian, Auron was a warrior monk - I can't see him summoning Bahamut

I think a monk would be loosely connected to a priest in the game

I still fail to see how a Summoner would be classed as a "monk" or "nun" though, even by default as you say

Yeah "just like" the monks or nuns, that doesn't mean they ARE monks or nuns though, I like to think them completely different from one another

Epic bump...

I remembered I had made this thread when I was searching around for material for a new topic. lol It's still one of my favorite theories I've developed so please... post your comments and thoughts. It's pretty fucking air tight. Oh, and for those who wish to correct me on the same issue twice... yes, I do realize it does not necessarily take Sin 10 years to reform so just mentally edit that from my first post.

Hmm, Omega Weapon easy boss?
Well not for me, whit out Yuna`s Narvana I`ll dont think I woud beat him.

UltimaNatus, I thought maybe that if he figured out who Yevon actually was and what he did. If he found the truth behind the Yevon religion, he could have broken away from the church. But if you're a church trying to cover up a major conspiracy and you had someone who was going to blab, you might just lock him away in a cave somewhere and tell everyone he was a rebel. ;) And the reason (I think) he didn't keep his original form is because he knew what Yevon did. If Yevon did it, he could do it too. So he did and became Omega the beast, who was just considerably weaker than Sin.

Omnislasher has the best counterpoint so far. He was a monk/priest, not an actual summoner. I did not catch that but you are right. Even so, what is a summoner? Just someone who can commune with the fayth and summon them at will. He was a high priest, like Maester Mika, so my guess is he could summon if he wanted to. He probably had the power, but like Father Zuke, decided his abilities were better used elsewhere.

Ultima is a shadow of Omega. I'm not honestly sure. They describe it as a shadow or clone that Omega created. It does say Omega created it though. So perhaps it was his first attempt? Or perhaps after 700 years of living in that place it just asexually reproduced. I dunno.

Also, what don't you agree about with Yunalesca? She was Yevon's daughter. No question. "Lady Yunalesca was a legendary ancient summoner from the city of Zanarkand and the daughter of [] Yevon. She was the first person to ever defeat Sin." - Wikipedia

I agree with aztec as everything he says does fit together.
Also, We are never given details as to any sort of background regarding his excile (apart from him betraying the teachings of yevon) however this means he could quite possibly have done anything that the maesters did not like so they shoved him in a cave to stop any traces of his findings being leaked to the public and causing a massive religous revolt in which case demeaning their own position of power.

Maybe the fact he has so much hatred he created omega..however, the remaining hatred brought the pyreflies together to create a beast less powerful but more so than the average fiend.
Just my thoughts on the subject...
