As you probably know many of the older final fantasy games are being remade onto the psp. Like I and II. Are these games really worth getting? Or should I save my money for some of the newer games?

I would say, yes. The remade games ported to the PSP are pretty nice. The GFX are cleaned up and improved as well as some gameplay features. For example, in Final Fantasy I and II, they fixed it so when everyone selects one enemy to attack, and the enemy dies, the characters will attack the next enemy. In the NES versions, they attacked the blank space where they used to be. Also, it gives you an opportunity to actually play the old games and get an understanding of where the franchise took off from. Plus, they probably have the the games translated correctly.

The remakes are also cheaper so you can buy more of them compared to the price of newly released games. And, someone correct me if I'm wrong, when a game is either remade or ported to a different system or handheld, they have a rule where the game has to included 20% or 30%(I don't remember which) new content. So you will get the original game plus bonus features only available for the port. For example, Final Fantasy II's first port off the Famicom was to the Playstation. They added new features like a Beastary and Music Log. Then it got ported to the PSP. So it came with all the new features from the PS1 version and then added a new dungeon and a continued story after you beat the game.

I'd say, go for the old and the new can wait. This way, you can spend time playing the old games and paying a cheaper price and by the time you have beaten them, the newer games would probably drop in price by that time.
