A sigh, a gaze...
towards that lanquid peace between sea and sky.
With trembling limbs I march.
Through shimmering mist, the cold dampness clinging to my skin.
Through molten twilight, the sanguine darkness smothering my heart.
One step for every breath.
One breath for every prayer.
One prayer for every broken dream.

I must not waiver. I must not stop.
The moaning wind whispers my failures.
The crystalline waves chant my sins.
The slinking shadows whittle at my faith.

The pressure of this fallen world grows heavier.
My shoulders ache under the burden.
I cannot bear this crushing weight, yet
I cannot stop to kneel, to rest and throw this burden free.
This trudging hurts.
It burns.
It strangles the tattered shreds of my spirit.
But I am afraid.

The moment I cease this exhausting march,
when I kneel and shrug this burden free...
is that the moment I stop living and I simply wait to die?
